Redskins may go after Williams

Posted: Thursday April 24, 2008 06:23AM ET

The Redskins' pursuit of Chad Johnson -- they also offered the Bengals a conditional third-round pick in their latest known proposal -- or another top wide receiver who might be dealt before the draft is expected to continue until they pick Saturday. Washington was rebuffed in attempts to trade for Arizona's Anquan Boldin and still might try to acquire Roy Williams of Detroit, according to league sources. With 20 teams selecting ahead of them, the Redskins have tried to trade down because the top players they have targeted could be off the board, and their efforts probably would continue if they don't get Johnson or the other wide receivers they want to help developing quarterback Jason Campbell.

Why is it that the Cowboys chase everybody and look interesting and aggressive while the Redskins look like lonely high school boys? It is prejudice.

You mean......the Redskins are going after a ton of receivers and top dollar veterans instead of building through the draft? Are you saying, they are trying to woo away great NFL'rs by throwing money and draft picks around..................................Why that doesn't sound like the Redskins I know.

if the Lions can get the same thing washington was offering Chad johnson, holla Roy...............thanks for the memories

Lions build a decent defense

imagine that ... the skins wasting money and draft picks on vets with 2 years left in the bodies.

I'm holding out hope for Roy Williams above all. Chad Johnson would only play one season, then hold out for more money. It's been an amazingly quiet off-season and I believe that the Redskins have only signed one free agent so far.

I was a WR in pee-wee football. You think the redskins might call me. I am very well rested.

If the skins got a hold of him he would suck.

Go ahead and waste some more draft picks by focusing on receivers because you know receivers win super bowls, not defenses that stop the run and pressure the QB....I like it Daniel Snyder is self proclaimed genius..... GO GIANTS

One day Daniel Synder will get it. DRAFTS WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS, NOT FREE AGENCY!! Good luck Jim Zorn. From one fellow Seahawk to another, it's going to be a long tenure for you in Washington D.C. We'll see you coaching in Seattle again, sooner than later.

Yeah its either lose roy to FA after the season or get some value b/c Ford isnt going to invest in two #1 WRs, its just economics. Bigbooth you said it on build that defense, we got marinelli for a reason. We need D-line asap and draft a mlb and tackle.

I have faith that Danny Boy Snyder will screw up. His history in the NFL is clear. So make any move and it will turnout to be the wrong move for the Redskins.

The poor schmuck tries so hard. Leave Dan Snyder alone. Anyway, if the mediocre Giants won the SB, (ask any Pats' fan) then the Skins are on course for three trophies in a row.The Skins even beat Dallas last year..and you know what that means.... I still see a NFL championship in DC within four years. Especially at 3:30 AM just before the lights start flashing in my rear window.

Don't really get it. On the Free Agency front the Redskins made moves last season that actually were excellent. Without acquiring Fred Smoot, London Fletcher and trading for Pete Kendall last year the Redskins would not nearly have been as competitive as they were and most likely would not have made the playoffs. They have been relatively quiet this offseason and have like 10 draft picks. It's not like there is a Wideout they can use with that first pick that would help them as much as Roy Williams or Anquin Boldin could. Although, I would not like to see Chad Johnson in a Redskins uniform myself I wouldn't mind seeing either Williams or Boldin. I think it would be a great move because WR is certainly their most pressing need right now.
