Edwards: Chiefs not done dealing

Posted: Thursday April 24, 2008 07:06AM ET

Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said the team might spend the days before Saturday's NFL draft examining the possibility of trading for even more draft picks. Kansas City entered this week with 10 draft picks. But Tuesday night's trade of All-Pro defensive end Jared Allen gave the Chiefs three more -- for a total of six of the draft's first 82 choices. There might be more business remaining.

Lovely...the first person to post something on the board...and it's some loser trying to get sports minded posters to some crappy web site.

I suppose next we can expect some newly exiled Nigerian King to start posting for a trust worthy American with a bank account....so that he can transfer 5.6 million dollars...of which YOU will get a percentage as a thank you.......................

C'mon Moderators...do your jobs!!!!!!!

Talk about rebuilding. Even with Allen they would have missed the playoffs. All they can hope for now is that they have a good draft and start rebuilding - maybe even showing some improvement next year.

very smart move by KC. they're building for the future w/ all their needs. although i've never been a chiefs fan, they're going to be good in a couple years IMO.

I'm confused by all the critics raving about how great a coach Herm Edwards is. His teams seem to get worse and worse each year. Isn't a good coached team supposed to get better each year?

It can't all be put on Herm though. They lost too much on the offensive line the past few years. They were an old team and age finally caught up with them.
Still to be fair he overworked LJ in 2006 and last year he messed up the QB position. What gets me is he is supposedly a great defensive mind yet I don't think the defense has been any better since he got there.

The defense has improved, but it just took a huge step back with the Allen trade.

The cheifs shouldn't be done dealing. Deal Herm and the rest of the team, but keep Brodie Croyle, his hunting DVD's and his hot wife.

Smart move by KC. They were one of the oldest teams in the NFL and only won 4 games. A youth infusion will help this franchise tremendously. I would have traded Jared Allen too, because inspite his greatness on the field, this team has way more needs that needed to be addresed and this guy is on the brink of being suspened for the season if he has a another off the field issue. We all fail to forget the trade Minnesota made 17 years ago with Dallas for Hershel Walker. 3 Superbowls and 6 potential Hall Of Famers later, it was the best thing that happend for Dallas, as for Minnesota, well we know how that story ended.

Good move they need to rebuild I just think it is the wrong draft to do it in.

How long is it gonna take to rebuild when you're trading away the only decent players you have??

I dont get it.... Yea you got 3 picks for Allen..BUT YOU LOST THE TOP PASS RUSHER IN THE LEAGUE LAST YEAR....

All 3 of those draft picks TOGETHER might not add up to what Allen already was...Just sayin

The Chiefs have to be thinking to trade down at the 5 spot to the Pats (if they want to get McFadden in front of NYJ), to the Saints (for Ellis), or Cincinatti (ditto). If so, they might be able to pick up another 2nd.

No matter what, the Chiefs need to draft at least 3 OL, 1 DL, 1 CB, and 1 WR with those first six picks.

The Chiefs need a QB and offensive line very badly. I see no QB worth a #1 pick this year. So get offensive linemen.

Huh? That's just dandy. More intense moments in the FNL. Took the longest time to find the F key... golly!!!!

Oh, I mean NFL..... crapola......

As a lifelong Chiefs fan, I for one am happy to see them head into draft weekend with this many picks. There have been far too many years where I've watched them trade away picks for aging players...or worse, aging coaches. Add to that the fact that most of the choices they made with the picks they had left were resounding thuds, having 13 picks this year can only help their odds of getting some right. After all, if you throw enough mud at the wall, some of it is bound to stick.

KC projections Chris Long at 5 if he is available. If not Matt Ryan at 5 and trade Huard with an #3 round pick to Miami for Jason Taylor. OT at 17th Clady or Otah. Brohm, Flacco, or Henne in second round if Matt Ryan not available. Gholston at 5 if Ryan not available and nix the trade for Taylor.

To Kurt998... BRODIE CROYLE is a joke.. all we have is are veteran Damon and are practice squad leading qb CASEY PRINTERS... we need - LT, RG, C, RT, TE(since they didn't resign Kris Wilson like f@gs) don't resign casey weigman let him go to broncos like f@gs. oh and now a DE opposite side of TAMBA *THANKS ALOT CARL AND HERM for ....RUINING KC CHIEFS FOOTBALL

Vinny_D TRADE HUARD??? TO MIAMI?! HOW ABOUT NO - MIami doesn't deserve huard again.. Back b4 Marino retired he wanted DAMON HUARD TO TAKE OVER QB.. Did Miami Listen no.. and of course chiefs are no better (espically when you get praised by DAN MARINO)

Iconhulk I don't care who deservers what and neither does the Chief's. This is a business decision. That last comment is OBE. We need a DE and a QB trainee. If it takes Huard to be part of the deal to make that happen then let it be. Right now with no QB but Croyle and BU Huard, the Chief's are stuck this year with handing the ball to the designated RB until next draft when we can get a legitimate QB heir. Without a good DE we will be suspect on the right side of the D line. Another year of futility hoping that a 3D approach over multiple years is being made to get this team in the position to win. Just think by 2012 we should have the team ready to go to the SB. Uh oh, the world is due to end on 12/23/12 per the Inca Calendar. Oh well Chiefs all for naught. You know what they say the "Best layed Plans of Mice and Man oft are not."
