Packers may sign Culpepper

Before the weekend is out, the Packers will have a quarterback other than Aaron Rodgers, Jerry Baab and Dalton Bell on their roster. It may just be veteran free agent Daunte Culpepper. After having the former Oakland, Miami and Minnesota quarterback in for a visit Wednesday, the Packers are seriously considering adding him to their roster. Culpepper is the only free agent left on the market with the talent to be a starter and the Packers, unsure of what the draft this weekend will provide, decided to call him.

Bring him into camp at least, cut him if he's still not very good. I'd rather have him backing up Rodgers so WHEN Rodgers gets hurt we have someone that can at least keep us competitive

Culpepper has always stunk --- He has no Moss in Green Bay to make him seem credible - Green Bay has good recievers but none are Moss's caliber or size.... Culpepper was never that good - but Thompson didn't want Brett back and we know Rodgers will be injured .... Does Thompson maybe have an unemployed in-law to play QB ... Daunte cannot be plan B ...

No, no, no...

Daunte isnt a HOF QB but he is a starter and if you can get a starter to be your 2nd string QB you are in a good spot....Aaron better work out becoz I'm sure Daunte is sure you wont

"Packers may sign Culpepper"

Who cares? Let it be known that the NFC North now belongs to the Minnesota Vikings!

April 24, 2008  10:05 AM ET

Daunte Culpepper, meet Jared Allen!

Go Vikings!

Whoop de doo. Culpepper is only good on Madden NFL games, not in real life! Waste of time and money, I say.

April 24, 2008  12:11 PM ET

Please God no. I would rather see my beloved Packers go 0-16 than have Culpepper wearing a G on his helmet.

April 24, 2008  12:54 PM ET

So what only about 12 teams left on his tour around the NFL?

April 24, 2008  01:05 PM ET

Nice vote of confidence in Aaron Rodgers by the Pack if true.

gyruhd, while Moss did help Culpepper he had his best year, and one of the best ever, with Moss missing several games and going limpy in a bunch of others. He may not have it anymore, but what he was back then he was good enough without Moss.

I thinks it's good for the Packers. I can't even tell who the back-up quarterback is now. The jury is still out on Aaron Rodgers and having a experienced veteran quarterback like Culpepper, who has experience in the NFC North, could pan out be a good situation for the Packers.

April 24, 2008  02:29 PM ET

Culpepper has become the journeyman that goes to a different team every year until, after about 8 teams, he is out of the league. Culpepper is washed up. For every 1 game he plays well, he stinks in 5 games. He is too fat. Leg injuries and weight have taken his best asset when he was in Minnesota, his running ability.

April 24, 2008  05:19 PM ET

Why?

April 24, 2008  05:31 PM ET

Ooooohhh........ that would be good for the Vikings... Yes..... Yeah, Green Bay, sign the ..........

Wait.... wait........ WAIT... Fannation.......

Where is free agent Daunte Culpepper on the list of miscreants?

Kitna, Detroit
Manning, NY Giants
Romo, Dallas
Brees, New Orleans
Warner, Arizona
Bulger, St. Louis
Favre, Green Bay
Jackson, Minnesota

Golly!!!!!! Where is the pepper on the table? ...... Ahhhh...

April 24, 2008  05:32 PM ET

Is my record of passing interceptions wrong?

April 24, 2008  05:33 PM ET

Holy crap.... Green Bay has something here......

April 24, 2008  05:39 PM ET

Daunte Culpepper, one of the Green Bay Packers' chief rivals from his days with the Minnesota Vikings, could be the favorite to become Aaron Rodgers' top backup. Too bad for the Pack.

I agree. I am a Viking fan and saw the Viking assets funnel down the tube with his returns. I must admit, though, he showed us some good stuff through his time with the Vikings.
