U.S. soccer fans will be thrilled to hear that DaMarcus Beasley returned to full training with Rangers today for the first time since suffering a knee injury back in November. Beasley tore the PCL in his right knee during a Champions League group match on Nov. 27, 2007 against Stuttgart. Following surgery and a lengthy rehab with U.S. national team trainer Jim Hashimoto, Beasley has finally reached full fitness and has set his sights on being ready for the upcoming USA friendlies and the all-important start to the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Ease back into Beasley, WE NEED YA!

April 24, 2008  12:37 PM ET

Hooray! Now if he could only be more consistent on the field....

thats a bit too fast no? Kneed are a delicate thing and especially with the instant change of direction involved he needs to slow down his return. No one appreciates the guy who hurries back only to get injured again.

Traitor

Take your time Beasley... your spot will probably be there when you are ready (who else would take it? Convey?)

April 24, 2008  03:46 PM ET

I said it once and will say it again in order for the US to win a WC they will need to hire a experienced International Coach from Brazil or europe, Non of these jokers in the us have what it takes because they teach soccer by the book and to win a WC there is no Manuals only skills and talent.

Brasileiro where did that come from? Who cares what you think about the managers of the US team, this is about DMB.

Anyways, I hope he takes his time and doesnt rush anything. His game is built around speed and cuts so that knee needs to be 100 percent.

April 24, 2008  04:25 PM ET

MSFC3221 I know that but what I am trying to say is that DMB is only one player and will not make a difference. I know his brother who plays on Detroit Ignition and I think he should be on the U.S squad. Hey we are all in tittled to or opinion god bless america.

I think Bob Bradley is a fine coach. What makes South American coaches special? The only reason half those people in South AMerica get the jobs is because they used to play for the team. Give Bradley some credit who has had impressive wins. This coming from a MEXICAN FAN.

Agree with Lazymike97. The USMNT (although I am American, I will never say We like he did...Soca Warrior for life!) needs Beasley. He's the guy with pace that makes them go.

April 24, 2008  04:47 PM ET

I still fume over his non-goal against italy

April 24, 2008  06:07 PM ET

When we first saw him in Chicago, he had an amazing first step, pull-away speed, and a surprisingly deft touch when crossing at full speed. He also had no injury history and weighed in at about 125. Now after numerous injuries to weight-bearing joints, and growing into a more adult body, I'll be astonished if he regains the same quickness. As others have cited, though, he's the best we've got barreling down the left.

April 24, 2008  06:41 PM ET

BRASILEIRO...ur absolutely right! There are no manuals on how to coach an international team. Just ask the Argentines and Mexicans... You just gotta be pretty good (as a team) on hiding hand balls and fake dives! :) Get 'em B.Bradley!

April 24, 2008  06:41 PM ET

Evertonius: I'm with ya there.

I like Beasley. He's a good play and a tad underrated at this point.

April 24, 2008  06:43 PM ET

But yah... id definitely take Beas on the left b4 Convey.

April 24, 2008  07:14 PM ET

I'm not sure I ever want to see Convey play for the US again. Unfortunately we have no choice as we're pretty thin at his position. It's DMB's spot to lose, even coming back from injury.

No offense to most of the Brazilians around here cause you're cool for the most part, but it's annoying when someone Brasileiro types out something so simple and acts like it's THE answer. Look, the problem with the US national team competing in a WC final starts long before these players even make the U-17 squad. The problem starts before any of these kids are even exposed to coaching. It's easy for a Brazilian to criticize because the game is in your blood from childhood on a level that we haven't come close to yet in the US.

Coaching is not the biggest problem. It just looks like the easiest problem to fix.

There are only a handful of countries that have won a world cup, so several of the LOSERS have had Euro or Brazilian coaches. It does no good to have a Brazilian coach if you don't have the players to fit the style. It's just not that simple, in my opinion.

April 24, 2008  07:35 PM ET

Well, Beasley is a very good player for the national team, eventhough he never lived up to his potential.

His style is injury prone, you just have to accept it and take the risk

April 24, 2008  08:41 PM ET

wat happened to my comment?

April 24, 2008  09:28 PM ET

If he has lost a step hopefully he has balanced that with more quickness. Rangers was an interesting choice for him in the first place, for reasons everyone else has stated.
