The Giants look like they'll avoid a potentially ugly summer with Osi Umenyiora. There were whispers that the Giants' star defensive end was a candidate to be MIA for training camp thanks to his unhappiness with his contract. But yesterday, at an NFL Youth Festival at Central Park, Umenyiora declared he'll be in attendance and won't hold out.

No, he should just avoid having to go to training camp. We all know the game......

In this series Bond is crushed about his wife dying. But I wonder how Bond feels about the Aston Martin being driven off the road and into the water? Without being part of the movie.

I didnt think he would hold out.
The one Giants player I actually like...SI magazine did an expose on him before the SB and I was really impressed with his character and the story in general. Seems like a really nice guy with a good head on his shoulders.
So why is he playing for NY again ?

He likes that little extra weight his one finger is going to have maybe? The Giants players are almost all really nice guys with good heads on their shoulders.

Just another guy who signs a long-term contract and then wants to re-negotiate when the market explodes. Dwight Freeny's contract is the benchmark for DE's. Actually Freeny's contract was...now Jared Allen's contract is.

I met the guy before the Super Bowl he is a nice guy and I think it shows by saying he wont hold out, unlike alot of other athletes today. I know things can change but for now the Giants are lucky to have avoided another Strahan like situation this offseason with Osi. As far as I'm concerned the Giants should re-structure the contract, hes one of the best in the game. Strahan wont be around much longer, so signing Osi makes it even more important. To have Osi and Tuck who are both young signed under contract would allow the Giants to have two Pro Bowl talents managing opposite ends of the d-line for years to come.

Good for Giants! Good for football! Honor your contract and good things will happen. I wish some of these other player get what Osi has.

How come the Seahawks didn't honor the one they signed with Shaun Alexander? Or the Cardinals wanted to re-negotiate the one Larry Fitzgerald had? That whole "honor your contract" is a bunch of feces.

Com'on, NY isn't so bad. It could be worse, he could be wasting his career in New England watching all those tapes of other team's practices and signals. Who would you want to play for... a Super Bowl Champion or cheaters? Which by the way, Walsh will bring the issue to an end soon, but thats a different story.

What is wrong with the players today? I always thought a contract was a "binding" agreement between both parties. If the player is not happy they immediately want to negotiate. What happens when the club is not happy with the player's performance? Can the club negotiate to get back some of their money? Of course not! The players want their cake and eat it too.

That is why sports (in general) is losing fan support because the fans are sick and tired of hearing them whinning and complaining.

Well put Dkaulein. Thats what separates Osi from the majority in the league. He has character and understands that he'll get what he deserves, he just has to be patient. I don't see NY not signing him to a lucrative deal. He is the DE future in NY.

Well I don't think that all of the NFL contracts are guaranteed, so if a player gets injured they don't have to pay them. It's not like baseball.

Still,if you sign a contract......
