Ronaldinho has revealed that a dog helped him to learn to play football and to develop the silky skills and tricks that made him into one of the best players ever. The Brazilian explained that a pooch in his neighbourhood in Porto Alegre, Brazil would keep him company after the other boys in the area had gone home and would chase the ball around with him.

And here I thought he had learned his skills from a donkey.

HEE HAWWWWW HEEE HAWWWWW!!!

April 25, 2008  08:28 AM ET

Clearly the DUMBEST story i've ever read!

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA???!?!?!?!???!???!??!?!?!?

CHOKE SLAM!!!!!!!!!

Man's best friend... never lets you down.

April 25, 2008  09:17 AM ET

In that case, I think I'll start bringing wild dogs to my practices to help my kids...

April 25, 2008  09:21 AM ET

Thank you Stauff Nation. They clearly deserve that as well as the crippler crossface or maybe the figure four - some kinda submission hold is in order here as well!!

April 25, 2008  09:26 AM ET

They left out that after he finished training with the dog, they ate him.

April 25, 2008  09:48 AM ET

Yeah, this is actually true. It was turned into a movie "Airbud 8: Dog Tricks & Horse Teeth"

April 25, 2008  09:49 AM ET

wow, and thought football players were stupid.

April 25, 2008  10:07 AM ET

I didn't read the story but the headline caught my eye...I had no idea the bounty hunter was a soccer player

The Brazilian version of "Air Bud" taught 'Dinho. How do you say "Air Bud" in Portugese, anyway?

April 25, 2008  10:40 AM ET

Like Rocky chasing the chicken around.

Hova- Amigo do Ar, I guess. Or Bud do Ar.

April 25, 2008  11:02 AM ET

And actually, it makes perfect sense. A dog aggressively trying to steal a ball is a pretty good opponent thus makes a good training method. I like this story.

April 25, 2008  11:04 AM ET

From the article-

'For a dog, he was good. He could keep hold of the ball, but he didn???t know the rules because he was a dog. He was the best dog in the area, though ??? he had a very good right foot!'

I don't know why those question marks showed up. Fannation hates copy/paste.

April 25, 2008  11:10 AM ET

you all mock this...but it is true...I play with my dog and if you can keep it away from him you can keep it from anyone. the dog is relentless and fast and more difficult to deal with than any defender I've ever faced.

did it make me star for the brasilian national team? no. but I can certainly see how he could have developed his skills this way.

Wow, you must suck.

I think it means the dog is very good.
