NFL execs: Dolphins shopping Taylor

A day after signing Michigan's Jake Long, the Dolphins have turned their attention to acquiring another first-round pick, according to two NFL executives. And it appears they are shopping star defensive end Jason Taylor to do it. The goal is to corral another player at the top of their draft board, one the organization fears might not be around when they select again at No. 32, which is the first pick of the second round.

But why in this draft? Not that many worth while mid to low to trade for.

Dont question the TUNA........look at how well he did in Dallas.

Good luck getting a first rounder for a guy who's already gearing up for his retirement career. His off season workout is dancing with the stars? besides, where will his wife want to live?

Gotta agree with ya Cheesedaddy.

Giving up a late first-rounder or early second is way to much for an aging d-end. Sure he looks like he has gas in the tank, but I think the needle is broke.

Somewhat agree, but the Tuna has a lots of worj to do in Mia. They need help at EVERY position. Tuna tends to wear his welcome out relative quickly. I don't think he will be around look enough to see things through.

As soon as JT has a down year I will say he is slowing down or not worth a few picks. Each year he produces and gets his job done.

April 25, 2008  09:18 AM ET

hes gettin old ...fins need to start fresh......get rid of him

April 25, 2008  09:20 AM ET

call the bengals, might get a 3rd or 4th round + another 5th-7th pick

April 25, 2008  09:48 AM ET

Of course they would take a 1st rounder for him. But, guess what? No one in their right mind would do that. So, they might try contacting Al Davis.

I swear Al is dead and they are just "Weekend at Bernies" him around the place.

Did you guys miss read this, they are trading the 1st pick in round 2 AND JT for a first round pick... Someone who is on the verge of winning now with a later round pick, say low mid twenties will def take this, they may even get a high teen

April 25, 2008  10:02 AM ET

I bet the Patriots would trade the #7 pick for Jason and the Dolphins #32 pick. Better to spend money on Jason for the next 2-3 years, rather than hand the #7 pick $18 mil guaranteed.

Allen is 26-years-old, Taylor is 32-33. Allen led the league in sacks last year in 12 games. Sure he has his issues, but he is definitely worth more than Taylor at this point in his career.

That's pretty stupid to say. As Governor stated, Allen is younger and lead the league in sacks.

Allen is probably doing things to stay fit for the season
Taylor is dancing.

I am not sure if he's worth a first rounder, but a team like San Diego should give the Dolphins their one for him. San Diego is a pretty good team, and a guy like Taylor could put them over the hump.

April 25, 2008  10:44 AM ET

He would definitely make an impact for a team such as San Diego. But, they have to make sure they can get at least 2 years out of him if they are going to give up a first.

The Redskins will trade you their 1st round pick, 21st overall, for Jake Long.

I believe that our beloved Dolphins must look past this upcoming season and try to position themselves with young talent on both sides of the ball. With this said, I think JT is a great player and has proven it during his time at Miami, but if they can get a late first round pick for him, so be it.

I just hope that if this situation unfolds like it has been reported that it will, he goes to a team that has a legitimate shot to get to the big dance, he deserves it.

By the way, yesterday I saw WADE COUNTY (D-WADE) in Miami Beach with Oprah :)
