Two years ago, with his buddy Larry Brown running the Knicks, George Karl waxed on about one day wanting to coach in New York. By next week, Karl might be mailing in his application to the Garden to fellow Carolina grad, Donnie Walsh. With the Nuggets down 0-2 to the Lakers, speculation in Denver is Nuggets billionaire owner Stanley Kroenke could fire Karl if they get swept. With Walsh moving at a snail's pace, with his expected meeting with frontrunner Mark Jackson delayed until next week, the Knicks president is being convinced to wait it out for fallout of the first-round firings.

Larry Browns available again. I dont think Karl is a good idea. I guess Patrick Ewing is not even in the conversation anymore....too bad, I think would be a huge emotional lift for NYC.

No way Karl leaves the all star team he's got right now! Especially to go to that mess up there... please.

We need more younger (former player of course) type coaches in the league instead of these same rotating retreads.

After what dolan did to his buddy larry brown-
I kinda doubt Karl would want to work for him

If Karl is fired, he will of course coach some other team. Easier to change the coach than the roster.

What's up with the ugly tie?

April 25, 2008  10:54 AM ET

Good coach. Why not hire a guy who hates Isiah to replace Isiah? Karma.

April 25, 2008  11:20 AM ET

Noooo! I prefer Mark Jackson but if its not him please get a coach that at least thinks about coaching defense. We need hard nose defense in New York if not Mark Jackson I would settle for the ass. coach from Boston (can't think of his name) or Van Gundy (i know thats a long shot)............Just say no to Karl, Please.

April 25, 2008  11:28 AM ET

You can have him!

April 25, 2008  11:38 AM ET

I still say the Knicks should try to bring Jeff Van Gundy back as coach and Mark Jackson as an asst. coach. A lot of history and knowledge between those two, that can only help the Knicks. George Karl isn't a bad coach. He knows that a championship team is the west is one tough cookie to accomplish and won't be expected to have a winner in NY immediately. However, he needs to work on defense a little more.

Walsh should wait until after the season to find his coach. There'll be some fired coaches as well as frustrated ones looking to move on at that time.

Go Lakers!

April 25, 2008  11:43 AM ET

Hey Karl was up with that tie, Jesus, you should be fired just for wearing it.

April 25, 2008  12:12 PM ET

Carl could not get these bums motivated if his life depended on it. They really needed Skiles to come in and kick some butt. Carl would have been a better fit for the Bucks. I think Ewing would also be a good choice, given his commitment to NY and to the organization. He also could stare down all of those prima donnas.

April 25, 2008  12:14 PM ET

I don't want to see him as the Knick coach. I just like the whole karma aspect. This dude hates Isiah for how he did Larry Brown, so to have him replace Isiah is payback in a major way.

April 25, 2008  12:28 PM ET

If Karl can't have success with the talent Denver has, what makes you think he'll fair better in NY?

April 25, 2008  12:31 PM ET

One more time: I DONT WANT KARL AS THE KNICKS COACH. Read the posts man. I'm just saying for karma it would be a kick to Isiah. That's all.

April 25, 2008  12:38 PM ET

He would rather coach Curry and Nate than Carmelo and AI. Makes sense.

April 25, 2008  12:56 PM ET

Did you watch Coach Karl instruct his players in the time out during the TNT broadcast? The players immediately went out and did the opposite. Not sure Karl has respect of players.

Exactly, he hasn't coached them all year. Now during the playoffs he wants to give instructions? You would think he'd learned something after all these years of getting whipped by Phil Jackson.

April 25, 2008  01:37 PM ET

Nooo.!!! this guy is a bum period. He had Cassell, big dog and Ray Ray when they were with the Bucks 1 eastern conf finals apperance that's it. Now he has a stacked team in Denver and they finish in 8th? I don't care if it's the west and attitude or not he was the one who said don't trade for Ron Artest, which is exactly what they need right now...
