Shoulder injury worries Sheffield

Manager Jim Leyland said earlier this week that he hoped designated hitter Gary Sheffield will be ready to play tonight. But that projection is not a certainty. Sheffield has received two cortisone shots in his ailing right shoulder this week, most recently on Wednesday night. He acknowledged that he has some reservations about whether he will be completely healthy soon. "I don't know how damaged my shoulder is," Sheffield said. "I'm doing what I need to do to get it strong. If it hurts, I have to let people know it hurts. I can't continue to go out there and play like that."

Was likely misdiagnosed by some doctors of a different color, so now he can moan about that to go along with everything that he has in the past. Remember, it's not his issue....it's the other person's issues. Great player - when he's healthy, but he be dumbtarded. Yes, that Clemen's phrasing - again. Heck just blame Clemens....it is his fault. A big rich crybaby. Do you think he just might have arthritis?

The Tigirls have a bunch of DH's right now anyway. What has Sheff done to contribute anyway???

Put some flaxseed oil on that thing....

Its all Joe Torre's fault. He always treated the white guys shoulders much more carefully

Now that's just plain funny Mets4.

Why do they always overcomplicate these things? A simple B-12 and lidocaine in the ass program will fix him up for sure. Also, We want to keep up Sheff's lack of steroid use, cause there's no way that's a possibility, right?

ah...that's nothin' - put a little butter on it.

now that every part of sheffield has been injured, he should finally retire. I quit you Gary Sheffield...I quit you!!!

It is the media that is attacking Sheff's shoulder, you know, they have certain shoulders that get all the attention because of money and stuff. But Gary's shoulder is the real leader of the team, just ask the shoulder, it will tell you.

Sheff to the DL. Guillen to DH. Cabrerra to first. Inge to third. What do the Tigers really lose in this scenario?

April 25, 2008  11:25 AM ET

Sign Bonds as DH. that should improve Gary's shoulder quickly.

April 25, 2008  11:49 AM ET

Sign B*nds as the Performance enhacement guy...

c'mon that is the best part about Sheff, the way he wags that big piece of lumber around like a toothpick.
i once saw him take two complete swings, he checked his swing in the middle of the plate, he was mashing too, bring the bat back and still hit the ball, for a hit. it was an off speed pitch.

I'm waiting for Leyland's next hissy fit

Not a thing! The only change I would make is Shef to the retired list. He needs to do the right thing instead of jerking everyone for another season by hitting into DP's and pop ups to third.

Tigirls?? you must pee sitting down cheatingpatriots because your PREMATURE analysis of the tigers squad probably reflects your se>< life

personally, sheff is the least of the tiger's problems. what's up with their starting pitching? absolutely abysmal!
