Ewing disappointed with Knicks snub
An assistant coach for five seasons in Washington, Houston and Orlando, Patrick Ewing feels he's more than ready to become a head coach in the NBA. And deep down, he admitted Thursday that he's hurt by the fact that the New York Knicks -- the franchise that he starred with for 15 seasons as a player -- hasn't even called him about their head coaching vacancy.

i think they should have stef. marbury coach. he knows the city and the team. he is a great leader. and i think it is a better alternative to kicking him off the team. he has shown through this career that he can coach.

Ewing was an exceptional player; why does he want to ruin all he has worked for by coaching that bunch of losers?

Mark Jackson will probably get the coaching job
The assistant coach will probably be someone with plenty of experience.

I think snubbing is just what they need. Now that that's done, who thinks the Spurs looked a little old last night? You can see the age catching up with them, I mean when Tim dunked on Amare the second time, I thought wow he's so old. Let's not even begin to talk about Parker, I mean where is his head at? He needs to get in the game, only 41 points. Man he's probably just thinking of which island he'll take Eva to after the season's over. They are done. I think the Suns will roll off 4 straight. You can just see it in their eyes, the hunger, the longing, the focus. Suns in 7 baby. (HA!)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but who was running the Knicks when they decided to trade Ewing? Was Dolan behind the scenes then? I'm just trying to remember if he was or not. I've been saying it in some of my posts that I think that Ewing would be better to coach the Knicks than Jackson because he has some coaching experience and it's obvious that Ewing's heart has never left the Knicks and it always will be in NY and you know what? He deserves a chance to coach the team, not Mark Jackson. I actually thought about Starks too, but to choose him instead of Ewing would be a slap in the face. Ewing was good when played for the Knicks.

I agree fussbox. Ewing played his heart and soul out when he was on the Knicks roster, and they did him wrong back then too. Ewing has had several assistant coaching jobs on various teams, and has made a significant impact on a number of emerging big men in the league (Dwight Howard ring a bell?). I think they should take a chance on him. I mean, REALLY: what have they got to lose?
By the way, I think my eyes are deceiving me, but did I see a comment that said Starbury should coach the Knicks? With his one-dimensional game and inability to be coached, he's one of the main reasons the Knicks are in this slump.
