One day after two fans eluded security personnel and ran onto the field in Seattle -- delaying the start of the bottom of the ninth against the Mariners -- Orioles Manager Dave Trembley lashed out against the unruly behavior. Trembley called the incident at Seattle's Safeco Field "embarrassing to baseball." Trembley said he grew more upset after one of the fans came too close to some Orioles players. "I am a big proponent of respect, and that's probably the epitome of disrespect when two idiots run out on the field like that," Trembley said. "I wish I could have taken them in the back room. I would have kicked the snot out of both of them. I'm serious. You think I'm kidding you. I don't have any patience for disrespect." One of the fans came up behind outfielder Jay Payton.

what's all this whining about the fans? -- it's the players' lack of performance vis-a-vis enormous salaries and rising ticket prices and stadium food costs that should be the issue -- fans getting 'too close' to players? -- fans wanting autographs? -- how uncomfortable ... tut tut

Hey Dave, I'm sure the knuckleheads got a good rogering before they were turned over to Seattle's finest

slinky stop bringing up an event that happened a few years ago, there's no need to do so...get over it, something like that hasn't happened since and it's not fair to sox fans

billwrigley, you cubs fans are one to talk now, you are just as bad, so don't feed that crap

April 26, 2008  12:46 PM ET

It is lame when fans do that, no argument here. But check your own backyard you idiot before you start pulling weeds from others.

Dave Trembley probably doesn???t give the Frisbee back when it lands on his lawn, either.

Although you do always have to watch out for "Ligue Family Redux", like at US Cellular Field, which White Sox fans openly cheered. Does Tom Gamboa have his hearing back yet?

I have given this much thought over the years. Teams should be allowed to employ either snipers in the grandstand, or attack dogs on the field. That would either stop this nonsense or give the fans a real spectacle to watch!

I didn't bring up any event. I made a joke to a friend of mine. You're too sensitive.

That being said, remember when those crackhead White Sox criminals, er... I mean fans, jumped on the field and attacked a coach or something?

Im just shocked to see the media admit that this happens anywhere besides NY and Yankee Stadium. Seems that when this was happening a few years ago at Yankee Stadium, it became an issue related to how uruly NY fans are, just like the golfers and tennis players complaining at the US Open in their respective sports every year.

The way they do it at Yankee Stadium now, I believe, is that running on the field gurantees you a misdemeanor arrest and a night in The Tombs. The seems to have been a deterrent, vice simply getting booted from the stadium and a possible desk appearance ticket.
