'Good chance' of Shockey trade
Posted: Saturday April 26, 2008 08:59AM ET
There is "a good chance" that Jeremy Shockey will be part of a trade that ends his tenure with the Giants on Saturday, according to a league source familiar with the team's situation. The Saints remain the most likely suitor for the tight end in a draft-day deal, with growing interest from the Falcons among others.

Broken and on the downside his career. Sixth rounder at best.

Report Offensive CommentWouldn't want Shockey on my team. I love Canes' guys, but Shockey isn't a winner and he's bad for team chemistry.

Report Offensive CommentI guess the Giants really believe they are better without him. That may come back to haunt them though.

Report Offensive CommentThe Giants are only doing this because Shockey really wants it. If they don't do it, he will be very difficult to deal with. It's a sad situation. I'd like to think that they did all the could to convince him they wanted/needed him. But the damage was done.
Maybe it will be good for him and the Giants. But the Saints are getting a gift.

I like shockey and I don't want him to leave ,but apparently he wants to. It's the immature side of him showing again. I also believe that this has everything to do with money. The gnts will not give him a penny more so his chances of better money lie elseware.
I'd rather see him go to the falcons than the saints, that would be a way of sticking it to him for being a d1ck and forcing the gnts hand on a trade. Besides, what are the chances of him ever playing a full season or being as good as he was after a broken leg, especially the first year after ?

Report Offensive CommentThey will regret it if they do trade him. They cannot replace him, or what he brings to the offense.

Well, his attitude makes it hard to like him sometimes. As a Cowboy fan, I will never say that he isn't a great TE. We've seen him take it to us many a time. But, he is a whiner and his ego is almost as big as TOs. Gots to be a team player. I would have thought that seeing what they did without him this past year would have humbled him some. Guess not.

Report Offensive CommentDespite the obvious talent and potential to be even better every year, this guy is as much of a negative distraction as anyone else here on fannation that gets skewered in these comments. He is ****. Eli Manning should not have to put up with this loser's presence in the locker room or on his offensive unit. Wise move by the Giants if it happens.

Report Offensive CommentBig Boss Man made the plays after Shockey's injury and in the Super Bowl. Shockey is just another U punk. They aren't all Ed Reed.

Report Offensive CommentI've been BEGGING to see Shockey unloaded since the 2002 playoff debacle in San Francisco - unfortunately, he had more trade value then - would've gotten more than a 6th rounder. And of course, the guy can catch and mow people down with the ball, but after watching his attitude on display, I thought the Giants would be better without him. It's taken everyone about 5 yrs to catch up to me - welcome: I've been waiting for you.

6th rounder ??? I guess you dont realize the saints already offered a 2 huh ? and I pretty sure we'd have been so much better off without one of the leauges top TE's the last 5 years right ? Dude, I mean really...get a grip !
Dead Kennedy | 04/26/08, 02:41 PM
Report Offensive CommentWell, Ginatfbl, I guess we really won't know how good we would've been without him, but I know how good we were with him - and I think we'll be even better off without him. So far, I am right and you are wrong. Make sense to you? And where you are right, indeed, I haven't ingested all of the speculation on what the Saints have offered for him, but my point - which you missed - was that they would've gotten more for him 6yrs ago than they will today.
