Did Lions offer Williams to Dallas?
Posted: Sunday April 27, 2008 07:53AM ET
If the Lions say they weren't approached with serious offers for Roy Williams, they're lying. If they're saying they simply weren't interested in moving Williams, they're stupid. It's strongly believed around league executive circles that Dallas was strongly pursuing Williams to serve as a receiving compliment to Terrell Owens. The Cowboys had two first round selections Saturday, the lowest at 28th. They can apply the franchise tag and keep Williams for another season, but his trade value was never stronger than it was on the first day of the draft.

First!
Williams and Owens would be the best recieving duo in the league, blowing the colts and Bengals out of the water

Report Offensive CommentTrading Williams would have been smart. However, like the auto companies in Detroilet, you can't expect smart descisions from the Lions.

Report Offensive CommentIf Millen can get Williams to sign a longer term deal, this will all look great, but if not he will look like a fool, again.
I think Detroit might have actually got the right people, unfortunately got them too early. I think they can recover slightly by grabbing Charles with their next pick, and then landing a good DE.

Report Offensive CommentIt only would be smart if you got something decent in return. Just because he could be traded doesn't mean he should be traded. I'll agree on the auto companies comments though.

Report Offensive CommentDetroit needs help, but if they can keep the two WRs they have, who wouldn't want them? The Lions biggest problem now is still Millen - can him, and let the talent mesh.

Report Offensive CommentThe Lions biggest problem has always been Matt Millen. Is there some reason unknown to the rest of us why they don't get rid of him?

Report Offensive CommentI don't understand why people keep bringing up the cowboys when talking about moving these recievers. The Eagles were very serious about acquiring an established reciever and could make a better offer than the Cowboys, 19th pick or Lito Sheppard.

Report Offensive Commentmatt millen is just ridiculous. i'd rather have isiah thomas running and coaching the damn lions.
and as for roy, he's in his last year and no one wants to re-sign with detroit so please trade him.
the thing that sucks is after this year roy will leave or before so we'll trade him, so that means we'll draft a receiver next year...

Report Offensive CommentIt's mind blowing how Millen has kept his job. But at the same time...maybe he's part of the UAW (auto companies' union) as well.

Report Offensive CommentI am a life-long Lions fan. I am a season ticket holder. Roy Williams is my favorite Lion by a mile and I am pretty darn ticked off they did not trade him. They don't have the money to franchise him. They don't have the money to sign him to a long term deal given how much they owe Calvin Johnson. They are going to lose him and get nothing in return other than a third (so low it is really a fourth) or fourth round comp pick in the following draft. I don't want to see him go but it is an eventuality. It is going to happen, better now than later. The Lions have really dropped the ball this weekend. Just when we started seeing signs of life for the first time in years, they have taken as step back. Yeah they are still going to put some points on the board but have not improved the team in any meaningful way. A few years ago I gave up two season tickets because of fustration and the other two are now as good as gone. These tickets have been in my family since the 70's.

Report Offensive CommentSo what did the Boys offer? Just because the Lions suck and Millen has not performed doesn't mean they offred him a deal. If it was JUST a 1st rnd then I would say it was not a deal. Roy is proven a 1st rounder NEVER is.

Report Offensive CommentIf the Cowboys really wanted a receiver they would have taken one with the 28th pick in the draft. I don't buy this at all.
