Strahan: Don't trade Shockey

Michael Strahan may be "stressing" out, as he said Saturday, over his decision whether to return to the Giants in 2008, but there is no doubt in his mind he wants Jeremy Shockey on the team. In the hours leading up to Saturday's NFL draft, Strahan told the Daily News at an autograph signing in Westchester that it would be "crazy" for the Giants to trade Shockey, their high-energy, lightning-rod tight end.

these spammers just dont give up huh?

Mike, maybe you should just decide your own future and leave Shockey's to management.

April 27, 2008  08:22 AM ET

shouldn't you be holding out until sept? and if you aren't playing until week 1, keep your opinions and comments to yourself until then..

April 27, 2008  08:47 AM ET

Well you know Strahan....he does not want to do training camp. He wants mo money. He wants certain guys in the locker room with him. He wants you to see that gap between his teeths. He just be a big tarded athlete, so who cares what the ownership thinks. It's about him and not Coach Coughlin. Someone please change Strahan's diaper before he really starts crying.

April 27, 2008  08:59 AM ET

Strahan is one of the leaders on the team. He should speak out. We hear all this stuff about how guys on the team hate Shockey. Well so far Eli, Strahan, Boss and Osi have said that they want Shockey back. So who exactly doesn't? Tim Hasselbeck? The ex-3rd string QB? Maybe he should join the View with his wife so he can yap about it (and wear a skirt while he does it).

April 27, 2008  09:28 AM ET

They should keep Shockey. This all stated because Shockey was injured and now they think Boss is better than him.

Amazing how everyone thinks they know something about this game or this team and really don't know jack. You would think Strahan opinion would be valued being that he has been with the organization for so long and is the team's liason between the coaches and players. I do think Boss has the potential to be the next great Giant TE but to say NY doesn't need Shockey and that Boss is better than him this early on is a wreckless statement. I say give it another season to ensure Boss didn't just have a fluke postseason. Hopefully, these trade rumors and SB Title will have humbled Shock a little and cause him to reasses his value within the team.........

Stray doesn't have to worry about it anymore , shockey is a giant for another year whether he likes it or not.
He may be "stressin" but he WILL be back, the gnts will be very accomodating to him as far as camp goes and they will give him more money because he showed last season he still has it, and his veteran leadership is an asset to the team.
So...come on back stray, have some more fun being part of a D that will give OC's nightmares and be even better than it was last year.

PS....guys leaning toward retirement, don't worry about their teams rosters!

It's also amazing that when there is a NY story all of a sudden Giants fans get all testy and want eveyone to keep their comments to themselves and, all of a sudden, we don't know anything about football. They don't seem to care what they say about other teams though. Do as I say not as I do, huh? Now, this may not apply to you NYG/NYJ Fan, but it sure does to a lot of other, really obnoxious Giants fans.

Does it apply to jackoff dallas fans ?? P.S... "This may not apply to you"

April 27, 2008  10:58 AM ET

Blah blah blah....Boss is very good, but Shockey has the insanity and reckless abandonment that ALL TE's need. As a fan of the game, I like his no-fear approach. And if Strahan decides to stay for another bout, more power to him. With or without training camp, his still is one of the best.

April 27, 2008  11:09 AM ET

Strahan can voice his opinion, but the G Men won the Big One without Shockey. Tight ends are easily replaced. If Shockey could bring some value, let him go.

April 27, 2008  11:14 AM ET

It really amazes me how some people think the Super Bowl is the only game that counts. Without Shockey playing in the regular season games, chances are the Giants wouldn't have even made it to the Super Bowl. Give the man his due instead of repeating the same drivel we're heard over and over again.

April 27, 2008  11:16 AM ET

THANK YOU STRAHAN for standing up for Shockey!!!! Yes, he is feeling left out b/c of his injury, but w/o him, the road to the super bowl would have ended so much differently!!!!

April 27, 2008  11:29 AM ET

Stray-mouth is beginning early this year.

Yes, my comment was directed especially for you. You are the leader of the obnoxious nation of Giants fans who can't take a simple congratulations from fans from other teams and let it ride. No, you've got to come on these threads and spread hate with every word you type. You are incapable of having a discussion because, I'm guessing, being from New York or that area, you are incapable of simple human interaction. Enjoy this moment in the sun because next year, when your Giants go back to their losing ways, we'll expect less and less of your type again.

Sorry, once again, if I've offended any decent NY fans. Devs, no offense intended. Just towards giantfbl and his ilk.
