Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland begrudgingly admitted he had discussions with Jacksonville last week revolving around six-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor.

not sure what they hope to get as the off season progresses. but a player's trade value tends to decline the farther away from draft day.

Hes a great pass rusher for a team looking to win NOW! But he isn't good for a team building their team and managing the salary cap for the future.

GREAT PLAYER though. Ashame he can't just play out his career in Miami.

As a life long Dolphins fan it would be sad to see him go. I say trade him to Cincy so my fins can get Chad Johnson and a deep threat for Chad Henne. BOOYAH!!! GO DOLPHINS!!!!

April 28, 2008  03:01 PM ET

Ah the Hell with it - make him the head coach and send the other guy back to Dallas !!!

Miami blew it... Jaguars wanted to trade but Dolphins asked too much for a player maybe with 2 years left.... (speed rushers lose speed with the age... like anybody else) without speed what he got left? Oh I know a mambo!!! Jaguars no longer need him and when he retires sooner than later jaguars drafted DE's will still be in uniform... sometimes best trades are they ones you don't do....back in the day Coughlin wanted Curtis Enis but so the bears... jaguars tried to trade with chicago but bears wanted too much for the priviledge of drafting Enis... so they went with the bills traded a backup QB and got as consolation prize Fred Taylor (hopefully a hall of famer)..... haven't heard of Enis in a while!!!! Goodbye Jason... Jags already have a good Taylor... go ahead and dance your swam song somewhere else...Jaguars will take their chance with what they got now.

Taylor's old...not surprising he wasn't dealt...he has no trade value any more

April 28, 2008  05:42 PM ET

Team ownership and GM's always talk about the importance of character. It was just last week that Bill Parcell said he had no interest in trading Jason Taylor. If Jason is on the move, wouldn't it be better to make it known to everyone to find the best possible deal? This is no better than a coach saying he's staying only to leave the next week.

April 28, 2008  05:50 PM ET

The keyword in Jeff Ireland's reported statement is 'begrudgingly'. He didn't want to say they had discussions. He's just pulling the media's chain. Taylor isn't going anywhere.

This is no surprise. Taylor wants a Super Bowl ring, and I think he deserves it. Miami has no chance of getting to the super bowl within the next couple of years.

How about Taylor for 85 or shockey pne of them thats a good deal . :D

Taylor is a good player but, a first round pick for him is a bit much for a 34 year old, if they would have asked for a 3rd and a 5th round picks then maybe they would have dealt him.
