Patriots down on Cassel?

Technically, Matt Cassel has one year left on his rookie contract, but his days with the Patriots could be numbered. With their second pick in the third round yesterday (94th overall), the Patriots selected San Diego State quarterback Kevin O'Connell; it was the highest the team has selected a signal-caller since taking Drew Bledsoe first overall in 1994.

It's Not!

Be interesting to see if Cassell makes the team or just the practice squad come August.. I was surprised to see the Pats take a QB so high.. But, as the saying goes, in Pioli we trust.

Does it feel scary that the Brady era may be coming to a end soon. And, by soon, I mean 3 or 4 years.

In Bill We Trust (although he needs a haircut).

Go Pats!

Did they draft a QB because they are all set with Spy Camera operators?

he makes that suit look creepy

It'd be nice to have a breath of fresh air in the patriots locker room. Get eveyone jumbled up and uncomfortable, hes too comfortable in his cushy spot

Draft Bill for President! Does he have the color of a corpse or is it just me?

Report Offensive Comment

nope, the bodies of the dead also have their hair grow still after being buried. He's a corpse

Report Offensive Comment

Bill would be advised to visit the Lancome counter at Macys.
Dr Frankenstein could have done better in automating a corpse.

Report Offensive Comment

this was the dumbest pick of the draft. They basically went out of their way to waste such an early pick on someone they project to be a permanent backup everywhere he'll ever be.

Ole Bill does own a suit. The Pats seems to push all the right buttons these days. I don't think that would pick this guy so high if they didn't think he was solid.

BTW: So many other passed on Brady.

KP: you can hide talent on a practice squad for only so long. The Pats have a receiver name C.J. Jones on their practice roster that I think can help several team but......

Everyone is entitled to make a mistake. O'Connell wasn't even the best QB in San Diego never mind the draft.

I totally agree with that.. and many a player has come off the practice roster and made active on the team roster.. happens all the time..
I just doubt the Patriots will re-sign Cassell once his contract is up. Its him or Matt G and I think Matt G is a better QB than Casell

same thing was said about Brady

I know this isn't a Steelers thread, but why did they take an injuried QB (Dixon) with the fifth round pick? I don't think he would have gotten drafted period. He could have been available as a FA.

BTW: I love Mendenhall and Sweed. They are arguably the best two players at their positions.

david carr is looking pretty good now huh?
