Hatteberg open to Reds trade
Scott Hatteberg is mostly sitting while Joey Votto plays first base and Hatteberg doesn't like the wait. He isn't demanding a trade, but he hopes if the Reds have no plans for him other than to be a Geico Man (an insurance policy) that they'll trade him.

not sure what they could get for him, perhaps the A's might have a broken under achieving pitcher to move..

Sure wish Hatteberg could teach Votto something about taking a walk every now and then.
As great as Hatteberg has been as an OBP guy over the years, it is indeed likely that his age has reduced his trade value.

haha they probably have no photos of Hatteberg actually playing. Votto is pretty good, and we need all the bats we can get right now.

I think the T & R editors merely went out of their way to find a photo with almost nobody in attendance at a Reds game so they can justify not posting another Reds story for the next five weeks.

We called him "Hattapiece" in Oakland. The guy could not stay out of a double play, nor could the guy ever deliver a clutch hit.

I think he would be a perfect fit for the Yankees at first base so "Dr. Strangeglove" Giambi can go back to DHing !!!

He received a demotion to the bench in return for batting .310 in 2007. But, he had to know the Reds were grooming Votto. Hatteberg isn't going to be an effective pinch-hitter. The Reds need to make a trade. Even at his age, he can be a asset to a team in a platoon situation at 1st base.
