Lions safety Kalvin Pearson was released from a Tampa jail on $50,000 bond Sunday afternoon. Pearson was arrested Saturday morning on felony charges of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and domestic battery by strangulation, plus a misdemeanor count of resisting an officer without violence. The arrest report did not identify the woman, who stated she had a relationship with Pearson and was pregnant with his child. It gave the following account: Pearson and the woman were sitting in a 2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer at about 5 a.m. Saturday when he grabbed her hair and neck and began to choke her, "making it difficult for her to breathe." Police identified and took photos of "red marks and bruising all around her neck."

a NFL player thats been arrested is not shocking anymore; however what kind of loser hits a pregnant woman?

April 29, 2008  08:18 AM ET

Strangulation? What kind of sick man is this to be choking a pregnant woman??

April 29, 2008  08:19 AM ET

This guy is a Rae Curruth wanna be. Or should I say a "gonna be"

April 29, 2008  08:35 AM ET

Roid rage.

Maybe if the Lions brought this intensity on the field they wouldn't be perrenial doormats??

April 29, 2008  08:50 AM ET

Classy Pearson....just classy.

April 29, 2008  08:51 AM ET

Charming gentleman.

April 29, 2008  08:52 AM ET

And at 5 am?

April 29, 2008  08:59 AM ET

I am all for occasionally choking a woman when she gets out of line. But a pregnant women? Thats where i draw the line.

It's like that relationship instructional documentary I saw on HBO...

"Pimps Up, Ho's Down".

What he should have done...is waited until he got home...and really give her a good WACK on the top of her head with her favorite grooming brush.

This way it doesn't leave any visible marks....and every time she brushes her hair for the weeks following...the pain will remind her not to lip off anymore.

The problem with these NFL players these days is that they just aren't educated.

I don't know how the other guys can play with this monster, how could you be friendly with someone who acts like that? Its not a secret about his abuse now, I'm sure it wasn't the first time.... I can't imagine what the rest of the team thinks. I understand the amount of pro athletes that are getting arrested is a lot, but its not 100%, there are still good guys that have to play with this discusting excuse for a man on their team.

April 29, 2008  09:42 AM ET

Wow this is very disturbing; I guess not making to the playoffs will make you want to do that, but not literally

April 29, 2008  09:45 AM ET

Well.............you can see how this all went down...not hard to figure out...

She calls him out of the blue....6 months after their last care free tryst.....

He responds with a .."Im dating someone now...lets make it low key...lets get a cheeseburger and park under the bridge like old times"

The night went odd for him the moment she got into his truck and she had the baby bump.

Then, at 5am...while chewing down the last of her burger she says...........

"The baby is yours....and I am going to suck you dry for child support because you play in the NFL, your loaded and I detest working".

And there you have the short, pudgy, water retaining, pregnant finger that pushed the (CHOKE ME) button.

I'm not trying to be funny, but do you work? Do you know what EVERY person at your job has done or is doing? You go and do your job and don't let personal feelings get in the way. Honestly, I'm willing to bet there's someone at my job who's hit women that I have to work with. Management decides who you work with.

No, I meant the whole team knows because now its on the news. If your a pro athlete and you understand every bad move you make is going to be printed, then you need to keep your situations either very quiet or just dont beat pregnant women. People at my job and your job can tell you anything they want, true or factual, but in the news is different. I understand that management decides, but that doesn't stop you from hitting him extra hard or messing his game up right? I would think enough guys on his team would socially excommunicate him, no?

If they don't want to hang around him after practice and games, I can respect that. But when they all put the same uniform on, they have to treat him the same or it's going to mess up the teams chemistry.
