Ex-Piston Chris Webber took a shot at Pistons coach Flip Saunders' credibility on the TNT telecast Sunday night. The Pistons were down 10 points at the half of Sunday's Game 4. When asked about the the feeling in the locker room during halftime: "No disrespect to Flip (Saunders), but it doesn't matter what Flip says," Webber said. The Pistons "take on the personality of Joe Dumars. Rip (Hamilton), Chauncey (Billups), Tayshaun Prince, Rasheed (Wallace) and (Antonio) McDyess are very mad right now, they probably aren't even talking and they are probably just saying, "OK we're going to go win this game." Webber also attacked the intensity of the Pistons. The Pistons "are really nonchalant and that's why I felt we lost last year (in the Eastern Conference Finals)," Webber said.

How is this a shot at Flip? Friggin media twists everything

April 29, 2008  07:41 AM ET

If a former player is basically saying the players don't listen to the coach, that's taking a shot.

April 29, 2008  07:50 AM ET

At this point of experience and with thier income....do they need a rah rah speach?

April 29, 2008  08:07 AM ET

They need Larry Brown back, at least they played back then.

Flip is the worst thing for Detroit sports since Matt Millen.

April 29, 2008  08:23 AM ET

Isn't it a bit ironic that Chris Webber is questioning anybody's credibility?

NO IT'S NOT, THAT'S TELLING THE TRUTH!

Whether it's true or not, you also need to look at the source. Webber is probably still bitter he was on the bench most of the time in the playoffs last year and they wouldn't sign him this year.

The only reason the one that one championship is because LA fought with themselves. The Piston have thought they are soooo good for the last few years, so they quit and blame it on Flip. It wouldn't make a difference with Larry Brown or not, didn't in New York.

You say it like New York gave him something to work with...

I lost all respect for this team after they sang the praises of Flip during the regular season of his first year with them and then tried to throw him under the bus when they failed in the playoffs. If this "championship caliber" team doesn't know how to stay focused and lean on their experience to help them win games, they should be eliminated. It seems like ever since they won that championship, they play as if they're "entitled" to success. I can't stand Detroit.

How do they say it? "Deeee-troit Basketball"... at it's finest.

April 29, 2008  11:23 AM ET

Oh...and Chris Webber has very little room to talk about anyone.

April 29, 2008  11:24 AM ET

Webber can say what he wants. He's not taking a shot too much at Flip. It's more like talking about how much the starters lead the team, and how highly respected Dumars is as GM.

April 29, 2008  11:38 AM ET

Everyone thought the Western Conference wouldd have the more competitive playoffs, but guess what? Suprise!!! It's the (L)Eastern conference that have both top-seeds tied at two games apiece. It now becomes a best of three with both Boston & Detroit in precarious situations. We, who are LIVING LOVELY IN LAKERLAND, will certainly tune in. After all, we took care of our business and have nothing else better to do.

April 29, 2008  11:38 AM ET

would...excuse me.

April 29, 2008  11:39 AM ET

Chris who?

April 29, 2008  11:40 AM ET

Webber calling the Pistons nonchalant? Talk about praise from Caesar.

April 29, 2008  11:42 AM ET

So what? The man's a TNT analyst now...that's what he's supposed to do. The Pistons are nonchalant and it's going to cost them another championship ring. They've been given way too much credit after just one ring and they're not showing that they want another one. I had picked them to eliminate Boston but from what I've seen lately, I highly doubt that.

Did C Webb call a time out before he made that remark?

Whatever the reaaon he is RIGHT. Piston are nonchalant.

On the other hand the Celtics were aggressive, and got into foul trouble then lost and are tied with the HAWKS. Who? The Hawks???

Nuggets are gone. Mavs nearly eliminated. Spurs..psychedelic Shaq- whoa! Great trade Suns!.

Hey playoffs are tough. Det need to get starters to play hard that's WHY the bench has been developed. DON'T PACE YOURSELVES GUYS .

THIS IS REAL. The other guys CAN PLAY OVER THEIR HEADS. LET BOSTON BE AN EXAMPLE!!! STOP THIS NOW!!!
