St. Joseph's Prep offensive lineman Mark Arcidiacono is set to announce his college decision today, and unless his coach is wrong, the junior is committing to Penn State. Arcidiacono, a 6-foot-4, 289-pound tackle, will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. at the Prep, and the Nittany Lions and Florida are the finalists. Even though the Gators were making a last-gasp attempt, Prep coach Gil Brooks was predicting that Penn State would be the winner.

Welcome to Penn State!

April 30, 2008  08:55 AM ET

if only we can get some skill positions guys to choose us over another big time school

April 30, 2008  09:46 AM ET

Hey, one for the Lions! About time! You guys need a little good news as much as we do concerning Ann-Arbor. Nice to see players go with the Big-Ten instead of the southern conferences. Wish him well.

Good Choice

April 30, 2008  09:59 AM ET

that's good news, considering the other two signees for 2009 are nothing to write home about.

April 30, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Finally, a big time player is coming to PSU...Thank God!

April 30, 2008  10:24 AM ET

I was starting to think Paterno COMPLETELY LOST his recruiting ability! It is nice to see him and his staff land a big time recruit...way to go PSU!

April 30, 2008  11:52 AM ET

Hate to say this but if this is best that PSU can do, they are in trouble. Now, don't have a knee jerk reaction because I am not saying this kid sucks. Just saying that Pitt had a better recruiting class last year than powerhouse PSU. Joe PA might be a legend but I think he's hurting the program and his ego and fear of the not coaching won't make him realize the damage he's doing.

Good move for Penn State. Way to prove that they can still recruit.

April 30, 2008  12:22 PM ET

Don't know a lot about this kid, but looks like a real football player. good pick up PS.

April 30, 2008  12:36 PM ET

He will switch to the Bucks shortly.

April 30, 2008  12:41 PM ET

haha Der Dutchman...I was going to post "just wait until OSU offers and watch him drop PSU faster than Joe Pa's used Depends' diaper" but didn't cuz I am trying to lay off OSU for awhile :P

April 30, 2008  01:02 PM ET

We didn't want him any way! Go Gators!

April 30, 2008  02:02 PM ET

He will be a good player, but i HIGHLY doubt he had a "committable offer". Good pick up for PSU and maybe later on he could of had a committable offer after some guys dropped off our board.

WTG JoePa, I will always root for him and PSU unless they play UF.

April 30, 2008  02:31 PM ET

Warden - that would have been good. Grandpa Joe needs to hang it up already.

April 30, 2008  05:59 PM ET

You mean the University of Ohio State?

April 30, 2008  06:00 PM ET

Is a news conference necessary? What's the point? Just say it.

April 30, 2008  08:43 PM ET

As a Florida fan... Who?

I'd like to think I'm a fairly big recruitnik, but I've never heard of this kid...

April 30, 2008  09:50 PM ET

JoePa will never lose his touch....

April 30, 2008  09:51 PM ET

Offensive tackles, if they are good, have a lot of skill. Nice to see PSU land a recruit that someone wanted as well.
