05:30 AM ET 04.30 | After losing a pair of players to transfers earlier this month, the Red Storm landed 6-5 Quincy Roberts out of Harrisburg (Pa.) High. The Johnnies were his choice over Virginia, Nebraska and Temple. He averaged 19 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists this season in leading Harrisburg to the round of 16 in the highest classification of the state playoffs.

Its about time Norm. Really.... ITS ABOUT TIME.

"He's going to be a good player," Storm coach Norm Roberts said. "I can't tell about playing time right now, but I know we need to have freshmen who come in and just be good players. We need to be at a point where we don't think a freshman has to be a 25-minute a game guy unless he's a McDonald's All-American."

HUH?
Are you serious Norm
St Johns has been HORRIBLE for 10 years.
if this kid is even remotely talented- LET HIM PLAY 40 MINUTES
- why else would kids come in? THEY WANT TO PLAY-
if you sit them on the bench they get frustrated and you lose them
-your team is not winning the big east- LET the KIDS play, that's the ONLY way you will ever draw top-flight prospects, they sit on the bench ANYWHERE- they would come if you GUARANTEED Playing time

Chris Mullin is turning over in his grave. Well, at least he plans on it when he dies.

Norm can't recruit, coach or motivate! Fifteen players have transferred out or been dismissed from the program over the last 7 years which speaks volumes that the program has not rectified itself. What bvody of work is Rpberts to be held accountable for? Isn't 4 years enough time to have turned the program around? Even MSG is wondering how to get out of their contract with SJU after drawing crowds of 5,000! They need a homerun hire for instant imaging.

He's definitely trying to downplay how horrible their teams have been.
