OSU fans question UM transfer

What doesn't make sense is the suggestion being floated that some Ohio State football fans might not welcome Michigan transfer Justin Boren for fear he will infect the locker room with cooties -- i.e., Wolverine rabies. The sophomore offensive lineman has been portrayed as a prodigal son from Pickerington who might not be forgiven for leaving Ohio for Michigan in the first place. The seed also has been planted that Boren might be seen as something less than a bona fide Buckeye since his dad, Mike, played at Michigan under Bo Schembechler and declared he always will be "a Michigan man."

Wolverine rabies....LOL

May 1, 2008  07:10 AM ET

It certainly is an odd transfer.

As a Michigan fan, I wouldn't want your guys garbage. This kid is nuts! This will be the high point of his life. With all the OL prospects OSU signed, does he really think he will get a fair deal in 09? It's deeper than Damon goes to the Yankees. Biggest battle in sports, and this guy is butt hurt.

May 1, 2008  07:51 AM ET

Better off without him... Jake Long was our line. ****

May 1, 2008  09:04 AM ET

This is just too funny.

May 1, 2008  09:43 AM ET

wolverine rabies, that was funny.

May 1, 2008  09:43 AM ET

Does this violate any gentlemen agreements?

May 1, 2008  09:48 AM ET

So they question Boren, really? Lets see, he's a spy, he intends to wage "germ warfare" against the Bucknut faithful, oh he is after the "famous" vest that gives Tressel his "power". Get serious here folks. This kid decided he didn't want to play for Michigan (RR) for whatever reasons. He's gone and resurfaced at Bucknut U. End of story, time to move on, This story is getting real stale at this point. Like it or not these two universities are forver linked by history that has become legend in College Football. If it wasn't for Woody and Bo, Michigan and OSU, things would be a hell of a lot different, A lot poorer in my opinion!

Another stellar piece of jounrnalism from the Detroit Free Press.

What should worry you bucknuts fans even more is that Zach Boren was given a Scholi offer a week after it was known that Justin was leaving U of M. Zach is a decent player but not OSU worthy. And he accepted the offer (goof for him!) but didn't get a corvette like Pryor. He has his pick of either a Used Chevy Aveo 5 or Huffy 10 speed. He went with the Huffy since it's more reliable than a Chevy.

Regardless, I hope Justin does well at OSU. I have no ill will for him at all and understand the situation he was in. Sure, I am disappointed he went to the dark side where pooping in coolers out in public is deemed proper etiquette on game day, but it is what it is and OSU is a fine school for those who can't make it at UM. :P

oops, I meant to type GOOD FOR HIM not GOOF. That was my GOOF.

Since Warden cannot rely on a soild football argument against OSU (such as UM actually making this a rivalry anymore), he must resort to insults of class. I'm sure UM fans throwing bags of urine on visiting OSU fans is wholesome, too.

scUM!

May 1, 2008  10:58 AM ET

Good! Boren may get a lack of respect. Once a Michigan man, you cannot go OSU. It works both ways, except for when Schembechler left Hayes's staff to go to Michigan.

DS199,

First, HAHAHA @ comment. You are such a bitter OSU fan!

You are another example why OSU fans ---sans 84--- have NO SENSE OF HUMOR.

You can dish it out but you just can't take it.

Goblue15,

The term Michigan Man didn't exist prior to Bo. It was Bo that coined as coach there.

And I have a feeling that Two Time Loser Tressel will reenact Woody Hayes this year during the UM game, I predict that a UM safety will intercept a TP dying bird pass and Tressel will swoop off the sidelines and hit the safety as he goes out of bounds on the OSU side to give UM the win!

Justin grew up just outside of Columbus and considered OSU until his dad "convinced" him to head up to Michigan. Since then he didn't like how RR handles things and went to the next logical choice. He gets to be close to his family, watching his bro play his senior season. I don't know what people want from him. If he finds a way to earn a starting spot then he should be accepted.

TheWarden, have you seen Zach play in person? No you say? That's what I thought.

May 1, 2008  11:47 AM ET

He is a dubble agent. or maybe he part of a secret cell
