Jagr's NHL career on the line?

Jaromir Jagr insists his motivation Thursday is as simple and immediate as it is desperate: Win or have no chance to play another hockey game this season. But with the Rangers on the brink of playoff elimination and his contract about to expire, Thursday's Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Penguins could become much more than the usual close-out game. It could be Jagr's last game for the Rangers and his last in the NHL.

Oh well. Enjoy the Siberian League comrade.

Bye

May 1, 2008  08:27 AM ET

I hear Mullets are still in fashion in Siberia.
Jaromir-aka Mariojr has had a great career. But all good things come to an end. He can still play, just not as consistantly as when he was younger. That's no surprize...happens to the Best of them.

700 Level...You're not all there buddy.

May 1, 2008  08:28 AM ET

Why is that?

May 1, 2008  08:33 AM ET

Maybe Jagr can semi retire and come back after 3/4 of the season is over like several of the older players have been doing the last couple of years. Thanks for the mammaries. Whoops freudian slip with that picture staring at me.

Maybe he just wants to be paid in Euros - Jagr has always had a penchant for big money. I don't think he could play in an NHL where he wasn't among the highest paid players.

700Level-Was because of you last Avatarl...which I noticed you've since changed so I'm pretty sure you knew why. Anyway...much better.

May 1, 2008  09:10 AM ET

Thanks, as long as you approve of my pictures I feel better about myself. come on though, that was funny.

Speaking of pictures, I love when you post and not because of your comments

Rangers in 7!!!!!

May 1, 2008  09:33 AM ET

Come back Jags! Or at least pull a Teemu.

May 1, 2008  09:37 AM ET

I was very disappointed to not hear all the "one game at a time, do or die, win or go home" sports clichs` on the radio this am. Like I said the other day, hockey coverage in New York is awful. When Avery and his crap get more press than the game...IT SUCKS

May 1, 2008  09:38 AM ET

left the e out of cliche`, sorry...before the other english professors get me...I do the same, so I'm ready

May 1, 2008  09:41 AM ET

he's played well enough that he will have several NHL opportunities next season...unless he gets greedy.

May 1, 2008  09:47 AM ET

Who cares??? Flyers in 5!!

May 1, 2008  09:49 AM ET

Jags should fake an injury like Avery...that way he can explain why he was marginal in this series....

May 1, 2008  09:53 AM ET

Davep I think that you are commenting on the wrong story!

May 1, 2008  09:54 AM ET

Steelerdude,

You are letting your hate for Avery block out that he is a tough competitor.

Lets see you take an open ice check and play the rest of the game with a lacerated spleen. That s**t is painful.

May 1, 2008  09:56 AM ET

WAAAH WAAH WAAAH...Avery is a classless turd...and his act is old...and he's a marginal hockey player at best.

May 1, 2008  09:56 AM ET

Jagr will be playing in Russia next year...I am pretty sure that you can bank on that! Having said that, Jagr has had a great NHL career which I have many fond memories of since I am a Pens fan. However, his great NHL career will be over after the Pens sweep the Rangers tonight!

May 1, 2008  09:58 AM ET

As much as I hate Avery, I don't think he is faking an injury and he is a tough competitor. I just wish someone would have ruptured his nose beating his **** instead of his spleen!
