More SEC offers for RB recruit

Milton tailback Toney Williams' recruiting portfolio increased from six to eight with recent offers from Arkansas and Mississippi State. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound junior already had offers from Georgia Tech, Indiana, N.C. State, Rutgers and Tennessee.

How is Petrino doing in the recruitment catagory? I would think that it would hard to come in and tell players that he was in it for the long haul after the way he left ATL.

Petrino was able to pick up several four-star recruits when he came onboard. The recruiting class was a good one considering that Houston Nutt took all but three coaches to Ole Miss with him but those guys stayed onboard at Arkansas until after the Cotton Bowl. It was reported that during that time that the assistant coaches who were headed to Ole Miss were working for Arkansas during the day but after hours (on their own time) they were recruiting Arkansas' incoming class for Houston Nutt.

After the bowl game, Bobby and Paul Petrino along with the returning running backs coach Tim Horton personally visited the entire group of committed players and held on to almost the entire class. The only commits who changed their committments were due to Petrino picking up stronger players at their skilled positin. In addition, he picked up and retained a couple of pretty good QB prospects even after Ryan Mallett transferred to Arkansas from Michigan.

Who cares about the Falcon thing. Anyone in their right mind would have left that mess hole. The recruits know what he's all about and been able to do at the college level, they don't care what happened in Atlanta. He's going to take Arkansas places and continue to recruit well. He already has the top two commitments in the state for 2009, one a 5-star and one a 4-star.
