A-Rod: Blame me for DL stint

Alex Rodriguez admitted it was a mistake trying to play last weekend in Cleveland with a right quadriceps injury. His penalty for that miscalculation is 15 days on the disabled list starting last night. "The curse of being a good healer is I thought I was ready in three days," said Rodriguez, who first sustained the injury in Baltimore. "I made it worse. But if you ask me if I could play tonight, I'll go out there tonight. I'll play until I'm dead." Rodriguez has a Grade 2 strain, but is confident he'll be activated in two weeks. He blames nobody but himself for his situation.

At least he sounds honest...and will probably get crucified for it in the media.

Yeah, you can't win.

No matter what A-Rod says here about this, it will be his fault according to the ignorant vultures in the seats, and the jealous geeks behind their laptops, and radio microphones. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually feel bad for the guy. He cannot win in this awful awful place known as the NYC Tri-State area.

How much did the Yankees pay for this guy?........hee hee

I'm witll wainting for Pavano to blame himself for his injuires...

who else should be blamed? On the other hand, stud player.

Since spring training 2007 when Arod let everything out about his relationship with Jeter, he has been a different guy.
Honesty will not get him trashed by the media, and Arod should be commended for trying to play though pain.
That strained quad injury is extremely painful and slows a player down.
Its like trying to run through water with red hot pokers burning into your thighs.

He has been on the DL how many times? Yea..thought so. He's the best player in baseball. Has been for awhile. I'm no Yankee fan, but he has heart and he is just as much a gamer as Jeter is.

He knew the team needed him in april, but he is not the only casualty in the month of April for the yanks, Hughs, Posada, Jeter, Bruney, and now him, so they lose a starter, a 7/8 inning reliever, a starting catcher, SS for 6 games, and now their starting 3B, there is no blame for injuries. he tried to help by coming back to soon. Hang in there yanks, May will be a warmer month. It's a long long season, as we all know. 18 games on the road in the month of April, (a MLB record) one day off in 30 days, There are other teams with similar April's, but others without, No excuses i'm just saying this is behind them now. Remember A Rod, if you can keep your head while others about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, ......

glad you agree becca...I was waiting to see what kind of backlash would hit the net today. If Jeter did this, people would cite how much of a gamer he is. If A-Rod does it, he would be villified (in recent years, maybe not now after an MVP season). For the record, Jeter's quad strain was a grade 1 strain, while A-Rod's was grade 2.

Tony: I'm of the belief that the Yankees will be fine. A-Rod will be back in 2 weeks and they will have more than enough offense despite Posada going forward.

Yeah BECCA e: I agree that's baseball, it's about cinsistency over a long period of time (6 monhts season) and alos about getting hot at the right time. They ghave hbeen pretty well beat up, and so have other teams, funny, right now the youth movement is prevailing for the tampa and O's team, but we will see, Boston came on with a big win last night. well gotta go see all later...

Hey, he tried to play and help the team, blame is not going to get Ws. they need him, and they need him healthy. Whatever decisions were made they were made to try and help the team. Not all decisions work, like this one.
