Harmon refutes Daly apology

John Daly told the press in Spain Wednesday that his former coach, Butch Harmon, apologized to him recently for not getting the facts right about Daly's drinking. Daly is dead wrong, according to Harmon. "That story is complete BS," Harmon told Yahoo! Sports. "John Daly called me last Thursday and said, 'Pro you killed me. I've lost all my contracts.' I said to him, 'John, I'm sorry you lost your contracts, but I haven't done anything to you. You did it to yourself, and you continue to do it to yourself.' He asked if I would go on the record with a retraction, and I said no." Harmon had installed certain guidelines for Daly to follow for the two to continue working together. They included the pledge that Daly would curtail his drinking and get himself in better shape. When Daly failed to keep his end of the agreement, Harmon fired him in early March.

Wow. JD should send Roger Clemens a box of Omaha steaks for keeping him from being the "Top of the Hour" story on the Eternally Self-Promoting Network. The descent continues and it's sad to see. As much as it's the word of one man against that of another, I wouldn't be willing to bet that John is telling the truth. This man obviously still has not hit bottom, which he needs to do and fast so that he can start to rebuild his life. It's called Alcoholics Anonymous John. Find your nearest chapter and GO.

Lets see if the boring channel oops I mean golf channel can figure it out. I love when Brandel Chamblee tells what it takes to win a major. How would he know????

Report Offensive CommentI don't mind Daly's colorful behavior, but could he at least make a cut once in a while to stay relevant?

Report Offensive CommentAs an alcoholic(yes i really am) i can understand how John just gets screwier and screwier. I have been sober for 7 years and my life is really only now getting back on track. JD really needs to ACCEPT his problem and deal with it.
His popularity would be even greater than it is now. Bur i was never in the public eye like John so i cant begin to imagine the pressure he faces in trying to get it together. But i can give him one bit of advice. Dont pick up the first drink John, thats the one that causes all the problems. I keep praying for you man.
