Why Brunnstrom baled on Canucks
Posted: Friday May 02, 2008 08:20AM ET
Vancouver isn't on Fabian Brunnstrom's travel itinerary, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Canucks are off the list of NHL teams with whom the Swedish free agent may potentially sign. Brunnstrom was reported in Dallas on Tuesday and will also be travelling to Detroit and Montreal and likely Toronto for some mutual tire kicking, as the 23-year-old forward gets down to the nitty gritty of where he will play in the NHL this fall. The Canucks were on the verge of getting Brunnstrom's name on a contract two weeks ago, but the surprise firing of GM Dave Nonis put the move on hold.

Report Offensive CommentI hope this guy turns out to be a bust (unless he signs with Montreal of course). Who the hell does he think he is with this dog and pony show?

Report Offensive CommentBTW, that is the wrong spelling of BAILED. The verson they have in the headline means "evil, woe and sorrow." The writer of this article (and his useless editor), shouldn't take his BAILING on the Canucks so personally. They must be smoking some of the local tree in Lotusland these days.

Report Offensive CommentNo no news Gocan...Can't wait for the kid to get to Toronto on his tour only to find that they are not playing...Think they told him?
Popking...RE your 2nd comment...I think you must have typed that before you had that coffee of which you spoke on the other thread. The usage is correct as in bale out.

Report Offensive CommentIf he went to V-Town he'd become another European Tin Man.
If he is worth his salt he should consider the Swedish Red Wings. They play like real men.

Report Offensive CommentWhy? This one's easy! Because of the classless ownership in Vancouver. That's why! Fabian Brunnstrom can see that all the way from Sweeden.
DCruiser | 05/02/08, 10:19 AM
Report Offensive CommentDoes that even deserve an explanantion? L-A-C-K of ownership commitment, better make big buck in Toronto and get benched...
Poor Luongo! He thought he might go on the winning track out of Florida.

Report Offensive CommentVancouver's defense were to injured!!!I'm no nuck's fan,but give them a break. As for this Brunnstrom kid.....i echo Pops comments.....either be good on Boston or be a bust somewhere else. He'd play well with Krejci on the 3rd line. Lucic-Krejci-Brunnstrom? Looks pretty good. He'll probably be a bust though. Either way.....i hope he makes up his mind...pronto!!

Report Offensive CommentThe Canucks could have had JCSuperstar himself playing on the blueline and they wouldn't have succeeded.
No grit up front. A goalie who appears to want back to Florida so he can be near his wife (or at least that was how he was playing out the string).
The #1 line should have been at best #2.
Way too many problems for some undrafted Swedish kid to help them. They need a Lecavalier and a real gunner.
Optimism on the West Coast is reserved for those with less than 2 active brain cells.

Report Offensive CommentIf he watched Detroit play last night, he'll definitely be a Red Wing. The Swedes scored all 8 goals!
The Winged Wolverine | 05/02/08, 02:25 PM
Report Offensive CommentApparently it's between Detroit, Dallas and Montreal for this guy..., my money's on Detroit. But then again, with Franzen (11 goals???), Zetterberg and Datsyuk, maybe the Wings don't need this guy? Can't see him coming to Toronto..., unless Sundin resigns. Not sure about the Stars..., they seem to be the team to beat in the West right now so they'll make a run for this guy.

Report Offensive CommentHank Kingsley says, Luongo "appears to want back to Florida so he can be near his wife."
Ummm ... Is this another Chris Pronger type scenario where wiffey has the poor boy by the cohones to the extent he needs her permission to take a dump? He's certainly been playing that way by season's end.

I don't think it's like the Pronger thing. I suspect Pronger had been putting his joystick where it shouldn't have been. So the Ball & Chain demanded he relocate.
Luongo married a Florida gal and I'm not even sure she lives in Vancouver during the season with him. But when she was spawning his heart for sure was not in Vancouver.
I think they wouldn't be much worse without Luongo. Trade him and Naslund for Lecavalier and the TB goalie. Even up. Canucks would improve right away.
Naslund couldn't lead a dog on a leash....

Report Offensive CommentDon't you "BALE" hay?
PopKing | 05/02/08, 06:43 PM
Report Offensive CommentYeah...you do...and you also "bale out" of an airplane with is not to be confused with bailing out a boat....English can be f***ed at times.
I love watching Hugh Grant in that movie Mickey Blue eyes....
When James Cann says to him..."so that's it then"...and Mickey says...you mean, "thats it then" or thats it then.....Fun flick. Hope you enjoyed your coffee.
