Friends urge Clemens to drop lawsuit

It's raining women, and Roger Clemens' confidants are telling him to wise up and get out of the storm. Clemens' longtime friends are advising him to drop his defamation suit against steroid accuser Brian McNamee and take a new approach to rebuilding his reputation. The pressure has increased on Clemens to reconsider his ugly battle with his former trainer since the Daily News reported this week the pitcher's long-term affair with country singer Mindy McCready. That report led to other Daily News stories about relationships with several other women, including Paulette Dean Daly, the ex-wife of golfer John Daly. The details of the relationships have been embarrassing for the long-married father of four and his family. "I don't see how he can continue this case," said a source close to Clemens. "There's no way to damage his reputation any more."

Rebuild his reputation!?!?

Sure! Start a program for at risk teenage girls? Programs to integrate ex-strippers into the community?

How about a home for unwed mothers where the kids have a first name that starts with a "K"?

They could send him to Calcutta to refurbish his halo, but at this point he would probably be thinking about banging Mother Theresa.....

Friends don't let friends let their reputation go down the s*hitter. Oops... too late...

May 2, 2008  07:29 AM ET

I urge you to Roger........please stop the bloodshed. You could tatoo your private and then ask all the women...oh yeah, whats on my johnson?

Friends don't let friends make total -holes of themselves. But lawyer apparently do.

Fellow Yankeehaters, I hate the Yanks as much as anyone. But it is unfair to blame this all on the Yankees. Clemens has played for more teams (and likely had affairs with women nation-wide at this point) than just New York.

The essential problem with Clemens is he cares about his 'reputation'....

You made 20 mil last year.....you can go anywhere, do anything you want, you kids & their kids will never have to work a day in their lives.

Just ride off into the sunset- out of sight, out of mind-

Why do you care about the Hall of Fame?
its not 50 years ago, when ballplayers had to get a 2nd job to make ends meet & NEEDED the HOF on their resume to sign cards & such.....

He has brought this on himself.... It is his own fault.....not for being a dirtbag & a cheat- but for trying to have his cake and eating it too-
Just LET IT GO

Wow, great point jackmanrob! Next we'll find out from the NY Daily News, he crossed border illegally in his Hummer to meet his Canadian women as well.

Canadian women are about his speed... he's not real picky...

All I know is, I did not have sex with Roger. So that's good any way.

May 2, 2008  09:35 AM ET

Sir Robin, I want you to come clean right here and now. Did you, or did you not take Roger deep.

May 2, 2008  09:46 AM ET

The only way I'd take Roger deep is with a broom handle..... that I'd enjoy....

It's likely that someone will take care of that for us.
I heard on sports radio that it's becoming very possible that 'ol Rusty Hardin may need to walk away from this clown. (Sorry to use the clown reference FMSD)

The Rusty Hardin / Clemons union is not working out very well. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumba*ss

We should create a special day where everone will throw eggs at Rogers house. I vaguely remember Bill Simmons calling that a dream day for him.
I might be willing to buy a ticket to do this.
