Cutler must deal with diabetes
Life as Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler once knew it has changed. Cutler recently was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. The story was first reported Thursday night by The Denver Post on its website. While this is the most serious type of diabetes, making Cutler insulin dependent, the Broncos are confident it will not negatively affect his career performance. Cutler, who declined to comment, has been taking his insulin shots since he was diagnosed and has been participating in the Broncos' offseason workout program. "People need to understand this is very treatable," said a Broncos source. "Jay's going to be fine." Cutler is tentatively set to address the situation today.

If Jay stays on top of things he should be just fine. It changes things in a persons life that's for sure, but it's something that can be managed.

It should not have any impact AT ALL - if he takes his meds......
But if he was coming out in the draft now- he would be red flagged and wouldn't be drafted. That's how pathetic the whole draft process is

I have admired Cutler as a QB since his days at Vandy (any QB who can paly behind that line deserved the Unitas trophy). Stay strong & stay focused (except when playing against my RAIDERS)

Bobby Clarke (NHL Philadelphia) always had that tag hanging over him and he had a long career.
As has been said looking after yourself, following treatments and in general doing things right can render it somewhat moot. But you have to stick with the program.

Diabetes has become easier to treat than cancer.
When I was diagnosed with it back in 2001 there was a cadre of medical personnel who taught me how to deal with it and what to look out for symptom wise. As Devs said, with the number of doctors and trainers available on the team, he'll be well looked after.

He'll be fine, as long as he gets his diabetis testing supplies from Liberty.

Jay lost a bunch of weight toward the end of last season and in this offseason. He wasn't trying, he just couldn't stop it. Now that he knows what the problem is they can take care of it. It's manageable if you stay on top of it. He's a smart enough kid that he will. I'm glad for his sake they discovered it. And I'm glad for my Broncos sake that they discovered it.

Seriously though, Jay should be fine...he may work out as a spokesperson to raise funds for it's cure.
