Castro leaning to Dodgers?

The Juan Castro sweepstakes kicked into high gear Thursday as the veteran utility infielder with the commanding clubhouse presence officially became a free agent eight days after he was designated for assignment by Cincinnati. But while Castro was said to still be leaning toward the Dodgers, the fact Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki suffered a quadriceps injury earlier this week that is expected to sideline him for two to three months suddenly changed the landscape. The Rockies quickly joined a mix of clubs that included the Dodgers, San Diego and Baltimore. Realistically, the negotiations have been narrowed to the Dodgers, Castro's original club, and the Rockies, who probably would offer him regular playing time.

Why in the hell would there by a Juan Castro sweepstakes? What has he ever done? Does the winner of the sweepstakes get Castro for a month, while second place gets him for two months? Note: If the Reds release a guy, it's probably because he ain't very good.

Report Offensive CommentAbe is right, half of the Red's pitching staff has a better AVG than Juan. The only time I would put him in is the bottom of the ninth on defense.
