Paul McCoy, who Scout.com ranks as the 10th-best point guard in the Class of 2008, has signed a national letter of intent with SMU. McCoy, 5-11, 175, fulfills a big need for the Ponies, who have also signed Derek Williams, a junior college point guard. McCoy, of Portland, Oregon, led Grant High to the 6A state title and averaged 16.5 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals as a senior. McCoy originally committed to Pepperdine, but was released when the coaching staff changed.

Interesting choice for such a good talent. Good news for SMU.

Good for Matt Doherty. He's a class act and a great guy. I hope he wins down there.

I hope Doherty does well there too. I think he got a raw deal at UNC. Too many crybaby players and parents.
