Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage offered Dale Earnhardt Jr. $100,000 if he would run in the June 7 IndyCar Series race at the speedway, but Earnhardt Jr. was quick to dismiss the suggestion on Friday. "He must think I'm a cheap date," Earnhardt Jr. said. Thursday night, Earnhardt Jr. had IndyCar Series star Danica Patrick as a guest on his weekly XM Satellite Radio show. Patrick told Earnhardt Jr. if he ever wanted to swap cars, that Texas would be the place to do it. Gossage jumped on the suggestion and offered the $100,000 in cash or as a donation to the driver's favorite charity.

I would do it for 50. Come on Jr....see how much easier it is....lol

May 3, 2008  09:25 AM ET

Come on Jackman -- ain't no fenders!! LOL

May 3, 2008  09:41 AM ET

I can see it now, Jr. finishes in the back 2 laps down and Danica wins in his car at Pocano. All of his fans would blame the crew chief or the pit crew.

May 3, 2008  10:31 AM ET

Eddie is just trying to get more people in the stands and drum up publicity for his track the Indy race there. Guess it worked.

May 3, 2008  10:58 AM ET

I can't believe people actually watch this crap.

May 3, 2008  11:14 AM ET

yankeesteroiduser..............i cant believe people actually comment on this especially a putz who probably thinks clemens is a role model...........hype is the name of the game and gossage knows what buttons to push.....................oh by the way yankeeboy im not talking about goose gossage.................your tunnel vision cant see beyond stickball

May 3, 2008  11:16 AM ET

You can't blame the guy for asking. It would have generated gobs of publicity.

May 3, 2008  11:22 AM ET

Maybe Little E wants to win a race before he tries something new.... and the current rate, we'll be waiting a long time....

May 3, 2008  12:48 PM ET

In other words, I need more money if I'm going to humiliate myself.

May 3, 2008  12:53 PM ET

They should do a one and one like NCAAFB. Jr goes to her place then she comes and races in a stock car! It be lake ole Lane Frost and Red Rock.

My Pops always said damned if you damned if you dont when it comes to competing with women. When and you the jerk lose and well...

Anyways, did anyone see Jrs interview about this? How he said the came short, like Dr Evil trying to ransom the world on his first demand of ! MILLION dollars. 100K is cheap for Jr's services.

May 3, 2008  01:01 PM ET

Ohh seeing the darkside of you today Lydia. Remind me to stay on the good side...........nascarzorin nailed it.

May 3, 2008  01:07 PM ET

"He must think I'm a cheap date," I'm sorry to all the millions of Junior nation because i know im gonna get blasted for saying this but. that is just sad..I know he is a nascar mega star but racing is racing.. if you really love to race then it should not matter how much money someone offers you for a chance to do something like that. and to the point the money would have gone to charity..I know $100,000 isnt alot of money today especially to these drivers who make millions but to a charity 100 grand could go along way..Jus goes to show how money is ruining Nascar

May 3, 2008  01:22 PM ET

If I was Jr, I would have turned it down too.... the cheap date comment was a joke folks, not a slur, was meant to be funny. He was not declining because of the amount of $$$$$.
Jr has so many promotional things on the go, that consume most of his time, why add something that is very time cosuming to the list......he would need to spend hours practicing etc in order not to be humiliated.....it is not money he is lacking or needing, it is more spare time period.
Besides Sir Robin said it right.

May 3, 2008  06:53 PM ET

Considering the logistics of this 100K is not a lot of money. NASCAR is in Pocono that weekend. Do you really think 100K is worth missing practice for a race while you are in contention for a spot in the Chase? Not to mention all the travel involved in such a move.

May 3, 2008  08:46 PM ET

"swap cars" huh? is that what they call it these days??

May 3, 2008  10:17 PM ET

Even I would put her into the wall!

May 4, 2008  08:18 AM ET

Why we talking about this and not Kyle crashing Jr last night?

May 4, 2008  09:27 AM ET

NASCAR is about as interesting as earthworms.

May 4, 2008  03:34 PM ET

Kodiak...that topic is on another page LOL

May 4, 2008  04:11 PM ET

Why would JR. want to lower himself to run in the Indy car series..if it wasn't for Danica nobody would be watching..that's why it's losing all it's stars to Nascar
