Bucs tried to trade Simms

At this point, it's very unlikely any will trade for Chris Simms. Tampa Bay shopped Simms and Bruce Gradkowski during the draft last weekend with no success. General manager Bruce Allen denied a report that two teams offered the Bucs a sixth- or seventh-round pick for Simms.

Too bad, Chris (and Bruce).

Report Offensive CommentThing is, in the NFL, quarterbacks like this can come from obscurity and lead a team to the playoffs.

Report Offensive CommentI would love to know how much cap space the Bucs have used at the QB spot the last few years. I suspect they pay the most for that position of any team in the NFL, and for what?

Report Offensive CommentSomewhere, sometime, Chris Simms is going to be a Super Bowl winning QB and a lot of experts are going to look real stupid. This kid has unfairly gotten zero respect since graduating from Ramapo High School in New Jersey.

Report Offensive CommentResearched the cost. The Bucs spent a little over 8 million last year at the QB spot with a cap hit of 7 million.

Report Offensive CommentHa! I am shocked that no one wanted Sims. If him & Gradkowski are your QBs you are in TROUBLE. Enjoy the early end to your season. Why would you want to trade for those 2 guys when you are better off drafting a QB somewhere in the draft and developing someone fresh?
BauerStar33 | 05/04/08, 09:42 AM
Report Offensive CommentGradkowski will be released.. Simms, if not still injured, has a chance to be a decent QB in the league - backup or whatever he has a hell of an arm and can win in the league. I am guessing that since Simms had no takers that he is still recovering from the Spleen injurey or may never fully recover in terms of being able to play in the NFL.

Report Offensive CommentThis kid played a game with a ruptured spleen. The Bucs should move or cut him if he's not gonna have a serious shot at the QB position..
