Anthony "Booger" McFarland may still be an option for the Steelers and the team may have more flexibility after June 2 when teams can cut players and not have the salaries they were due to make count against the cap.

Booger would probably be a good pickup for any team.

May 4, 2008  09:28 AM ET

Picking and Booger should not be used in the same sentence.

May 4, 2008  09:53 AM ET

Yeah, if they can get him on the cheap, why not do it since depth on the d-line is a concern? You have to think that Najeh's contract is a strong candidate to come off the books now that they've drafted Mendenhall and signed Moore.

Mahan's another candidate if they don't think he's got a legitimate chance at winning the starting center or left guard spot.

He's a solid DT

May 4, 2008  10:21 AM ET

You need to use a non-abrasive cleaner to get boogers off of any screen..especially radars.

May 4, 2008  10:26 AM ET

Booger's been on the backburner since he failed his physcial. There was/is a rumor out there that there's a Gentleman's agreement between him and Tomlin (his former coach) that the team will sign him if/when he can pass his physical. That should be some time this summer. He's a quality DT when healthy.

would be on the bengals wish list too

May 4, 2008  10:47 AM ET

Bengals don't want him. He's not been arrested enough.

May 4, 2008  10:51 AM ET

Booger sounds more like a Bengals pickup to me.

May 4, 2008  11:16 AM ET

ab, funny. so original and witty too.

look up the nfl arrest records for 2007, get back to us when you know the top 10 teams, which the bengals weren't in.

May 4, 2008  12:24 PM ET

Big mistake in the headline - he is not on the radar he's got the old ankle bracelet keeping him company !!!

May 4, 2008  01:08 PM ET

pw,

NO team should have as many players getting arrested as the Bengals have somewhat recently.

And I think Marvin Lewis would agree.

Don't you?

May 4, 2008  01:23 PM ET

Steelers to take 'BOOGER'? you should never steal someones booger.

May 4, 2008  01:33 PM ET

black and gold, there are alot more teams with that problem currently than they bengals. but you find a ton of people on here living in 2006 or talking smack with no facts.

i just mark it up to lemming mentality.

May 4, 2008  03:20 PM ET

I'd like to hear them announce that one on the Heinz PA system. That was a tackle by...BOOOOOOGEERR.

May 4, 2008  03:26 PM ET

Funny you should mention lemming mentality, seeing as it seems the bengals' roster has seemingly fallen into the pattern of getting arrested one after the other after the other...

May 4, 2008  03:28 PM ET

haha seems seemingly...maybe I need to take a minute to proofread

May 4, 2008  07:27 PM ET

The Steelers should pick him up because they need defensive line help!

May 4, 2008  09:21 PM ET

pw, please enlighten us with your witticisms and wisdom. Perhaps you'll tell us which teams have had more players arrested than the Bengals. Perhaps you'll explain the lemming mentality to those individuals that are inferior to your obvious intellectual prowess. Or, maybe, you'll consider this; the arrests in Cincinnati are publicized more because (1) Cincinnati is a much smaller market than most NFL cities, and thus player arrests, when they happen, are magnified, and (2) the Bengals just haven't been very good lately. It's easier to take the thuggery when you're team is beating the hell out of the opponent on a weekly basis.

He can still play but nobody would want him for his current cap number. That I believe is the main reason the Colts released him.
