Theus needs help with Kings bench

If Reggie Theus hopes to persuade Geoff Petrie and the Maloofs that his rookie transgressions were exactly that -- rookie transgressions -- and convince them to guarantee the third and final year (2009-10) of his contract, then he needs to hire a mentor. He needs to admit that he needs help. Bernie Bickerstaff. Del Harris. Tex Winter. Hank Egan. Kelvin Sampson would have been a terrific choice had Scott Skiles not already hired him in Milwaukee. But he needs to add someone of similar pedigree to his staff.

He needs to add a little more talent to the roster.

**** has Kelvin Sampson done besides pay recruits to go to his schools and or violate every rule in the book? How does his name come up as some coaching genius?

He needs to add a little more talent to the roster.
Honest Abraham

What matters is who's on the floor, not who's on the bench. He needs help with this this roster.

Cmon, who the %$#@ hired this guy in the first place? Theus has no business coaching in the NBA. He is a Div III college assistant at best. Aloof fam' is pathetic.

Shananigan - you've been spewing too many shenanigan's.
Theus is an outstanding coach who has a deep knowledge of basketball. He was the star player on the Bulls before MJ came along, and he has been a commentator as well.
As for getting assistants - that would be a good idea. There are plenty of unemployed coaches out there that should consider joining the Kings staff to work with Theus. For example, Avery Johnson, Kiki Vandeweghe, Sam Vincent, Patrick Ewing, and others would all be good.

Avery Johnson would be a great choice now that he has proven to be a playoff failure as a HC in Dallas.

Avery Johnson as playoff failure? Don't know about that one.
He did get the Mavs all the way to the NBA Finals, and very close to winning the whole thing. In fact, he got them to beat the Dynasty Spurs on the way there that year.
True enough, he failed miserably the next year in the first round upset to the Warriors.
So, it's a mixed bag. One year where they went beyond expectations, and one year where they fell short miserably. This past year was simply meeting expectations - they were supposed to lose to the Hornets, and that's what they did. (The Hornets were the 2nd seed in the West, and the Mavs were only #7.)

Hey JL,
Avery still failed and expectations were and always will be the Championship. That means everyone, except one team, fails.
Everyone needs a mentor, true, get one. What the big deal.
