Knicks interview TNT's Smith
Kenny Smith took the first step toward ditching Charles Barkley as a sidekick and becoming Donnie Walsh's righthand man when the TNT analyst interviewed for the Knicks' general manager job on Friday. "It was a great meeting," Smith said Saturday. "I'm happy I got the opportunity to talk to Donnie. We both knew each other, but it was the first time we got a chance to sit down, talk and really get to know one another."

His friend Barkley told him to stay away from this job. Smith should listen.

I wonder if this is the only picture the media has of Kenny Smith. Amazing how people are sometimes shown thru the media. This picture isn't one I want to he shown of me if I'm trying to get a public job.

What's wrong with the pic? Would you rather see him at Chippendales instead of the Playboy club?

I just don't get how players automatically qualify to be a GM......
I mean it is a business....shouldn't they have like an MBA or something? Maybe have some formal training (or at least an internship/assistant GM job) before being allowed to run an organization?
Sure it's important to be able to tell if a player is good or bad (I can do that) but that's only a fraction of what the job is......
no players are GM's of NFL or MLB teams.....

Would almost ensure that Webber would take Kenny Smith's seat on the TNT crew.
Webber cleans up nice and is very well spoken (comes from a nice middle class home, parents still married) but it's sad hearing him criticize other players because Webber is SO SOFT and he just retired. He'll say something like "amare stoudemire needs to take it to the hole more." and i'm like "umm you never took it to the hole, alll you ever did was shoot jumpshots from the elbow, stoudemire would destroy you."
I guess i have to get over it though. I just wouldn't advise him ripping into players because he was Mr. Wasted Potential so he really can't talk.
