Secret to Notre Dame offense?

The Charlie Weis offense has a fondness for tight ends. Thanks to suspensions, graduation and attrition, there are a limited number on hand. So the Irish need Kyle Rudolph to be big, and so Kyle Rudolph needs to be actually big, to refine his ample raw material into a finished product fairly quickly.

So he has a fondness for tight ends, does he?

Report Offensive CommentIt will be interesting ot see how their OL plays now that all of them have bulked up to over 300 lbs. Being big and strong is good but if they are immobile, will that help when they encounter a fast DL? Even Pickle Boy bulked up ~20 lbs or so. Let's hope it worked and ND can regain their fighting way.

Report Offensive CommentBtw, I mentioned that Pickle Boy gained ~20 lbs but he lost ~5 lbs of hair from his head. He turning into a bald pickle.

Report Offensive CommentThe secret to improving Notre Dame's offense is to replace the entire coaching staff.

Report Offensive CommentThe secret to Notre Dame's offense in the Spring is the Notre Dame defense. I think Pickle Boy would have to make an attempt at failure to actually get beat by that group. Four wins. Depending on the crappiness of Michigan, maybe five.

Report Offensive CommentRudolph will have to step up as the third tight end. He's a giant and the best TE of this class. Of course, the secret to the offense doesn't matter if the O-line can't block. T-Rob, Olsen, and Stewart need to shut down the middle. The tackles are good enough to stop the DEs. I'm most worried about blitzing corners and outside linebackers. That was responsible to most of the sacks last year.
The only way ND could end the season ranked is if the defense plays like it did in 2002. I think it could with Darrin Walls, David Bruton, and Ian Williams. Those three all will be first round picks when their times come.

Report Offensive CommentAll I know is that it was the biggest f'ing secret in college football last year.....

Report Offensive CommentSteven Threet .... Was approximately 5 years old the last time you guys won a Bowl game.
There you go B Kelly. I finished your statement for you.

Report Offensive CommentTenuta is going to make Notre Dame's defense a top 20 unit.
Jimmy Clausen doesn't have underweight Freshmen protecting him anymore.
A 3-9 season has a way of forcing teams to improve, and Charlie Weis has shown every indication of understanding where changes were necessary and implementing those changes to improve the 2008 campaign. In other words, he seems to have learned from his mistakes in 2007.
I think Notre Dame is going to surprise a few people and show major strides in 2008. I predict that they will go to a bowl game this year and they will be a pre-season top ten in 2009.
It's unfortunate that Weis gets such a bad rap for having one terrible season. Especially when he had this team overachieving the previous two. It's also humorous to me that so many people tend to look past the fact that college recruiting has a 2-3 year lag time.
Anyone who can't look at Ty Willingham's last two recruiting classes and see that those same mediocre players were all being relied upon for the bulk of Notre Dame's production last year is missing the big picture.

Report Offensive Commentits funny how everyone bashing ND is not a fan of the Irish. How about ya'll keep your little comments to yourselves and worry about your team and their business not ours.
NDfan4Ever | 05/04/08, 02:57 PM
Report Offensive CommentWell it would be silly if everyone bashing ND WAS a fan of the Irish. But yes, wouldn't wanna go prying into the business of the Irish. I mean, they do keep such a low profile, so rarely do the Irish and Charlie Tuna mug for the media, I'm amazed I could find a story about them anywhere.

I predict I will go to sleep tonight. I am not saying that I disagree with you or what you stated, but Notre Dame is practically handed Bowl Games, deserved or not.

Report Offensive CommentPicking up Tenuta was a great hire. I do think he'll help the ND D and most likely will be named the new head coach should Weis falter.
The Warden | 05/04/08, 07:03 PM
Report Offensive CommentEvery team must know the secret since ND has sucked big time since "Slim Slow" has gotten to South Bend, er well, except when he inherited Willingham's kids.
rhymeister | 05/04/08, 07:14 PM
Report Offensive CommentSteven Threet... is your starting quarterback next season. That is what I was implying.
I don't think Tenuta will ever be a head coach, he's just a defensive scheming madman. He doesn't like to recruit. But he's great at what he does.
