If the Heat cannot draft Derrick Rose, one potential point-guard trade option who intrigues management is Toronto's T.J. Ford (the Raptors say they will keep Jose Calderon).

Ford for a 2nd round draft pick?

Good move for Miami. Draft Beasley and they'll be alright.

RJ,

You got it my friend. That the angle I would take if I'm the Heat.

if they get the 3rd or 4th pick, it would be a pretty good idea to trade for Ford which would help both teams. However, the Heat could still draft Bayless and continue to rebuild.

I really love TJ Fords game, I just wished the guy could stay healthy. I can see it now: Trade for Ford, draft Beasley, Wade and Marion regain form and all of a sudden PAT RILEY LIKES COACHING AGAIN.

Slick-haired fraud..

What do the heat have that the raptors would want though? Raptors need a good athletic wing who can score, so who on the heat could do that for the raptors. Sure as heck won't be trading him for Ricky Davis.

Ford is a hot commodity given the dearth of point guards in the NBA..... someone is going to get rich here...... I doubt that Miami will get him.... interested yes.... getting him, don't think so....

May 4, 2008  02:14 PM ET

this will be good for the heat..that is if he and wade can be healthy at the same time

T J Ford hmmm hopefully that concusion that Al Horford gave me wont stop him from playing well.
He may be a good pickup along with Beasly.
New Coach Eric Spoletstra since you are great @ recruiting aswell i suggest you get an international player pobably from Turkey because all the Turkish players in the leauge are either 6' 10" & taller & can shoot the 3 ball well (Turkoglu & Okur) so please get Beasly along with a 6' 10" 3 point shooter from Turkey please so my Heaters can win another title because Wade deserves to be surrounded by great players.

Yes, I agree, I would love to see T.J Ford as a Heat... I think that would be so awesome.... I hope we get D. Rose tho..... that would be my first pick.... then if it does not work out that way the T.J Ford would be a good 2nd option.

Only if the Raps got Haslem in return

Now that wiould be a good deal

Maybe Brevin Knight will be available...

May 5, 2008  02:44 AM ET

See, that's why the Miami Heat are winners!
They know that they can buy any player in the league, and that player will agree to play in Miami because of the warm tropical climate, the exciting night-life spots, and the big-city market.
Plus, they have Pat Riley, and every player that has followed basketball history knows that it's a privelege to play under Riley. Riley does not even need to be the coach - his simply being the GM is enough of an attraction for players to flock to Miami.
Miami may be the stomping mat of the league right now, but they will climb back to the top of the mountain one of these years.

Jay, winners dont run an over the hill coach out there with pathetic talent and finish with the worst record in the NBA so soon after having been in the Finals. With or without these guards next year the Heat will be terrible again.

May 5, 2008  03:00 AM ET

If they get the #1, can trade for Ford, and draft Beasley, that would be the best way to go. If they can't get the trade for Ford, they should draft Rose. Backcourt of Rose and Wade, with a frontcourt of Marion, Haslem, and the Cs they have is a definite improvement.

Of course they will improve because they have nowhere to go but up. However being a couple degrees better than Gawd-awful wont make me bat an eyelash.

Finally a Management team who knows what they are doing not like Toronto.
Toronto will regret it forever that they traded TJ! TJ will be an All Star next season!
Bosh will leave when his contract is up too!
