Redskins rookie misses minicamp

Posted: Monday May 05, 2008 07:07AM ET

On the final day of the Redskins' minicamp, Jim Zorn was confronted with the first challenge of his nascent head coaching career when former Southern Cal tight end Fred Davis, the team's second selection in last weekend's NFL draft, did not report to practice yesterday and had to be located by team security personnel. Davis overslept and was not involved in any legal trouble, said Zack Bolno, Washington's executive director of communications.

I don't know if there is any truth to the notion that USC offensive players don't take the pro game seriously but, Mr. Davis seemingly isn't doing anything to counteract that mindset.

How do you do that??? I mean...sleep in when you've been there. You should be excited and wake up before your alarm. No enthusiasm at all I suppose!

Report Offensive Comment

Hey, there's a three hour time difference, give him a break. (LOL)

Big Deal...simple mistake, but at least it happened now and not
on game day.

Yeah Jabril, jetlag is no joke.

We've all over slept before in our lives. I can't say I've done it when I just started a new job...but it's only minicamp. Not a big deal yet

It's hard for guys from programs like USC to fight the temptation of Ashburn's famous TGIMcBennibees style nightlife

Report Offensive Comment

They send a swat team (team security personnel) if you don't show up?

Report Offensive Comment

wow smooth kid this is the NFL you can't over sleep

Report Offensive Comment

Not the type of sleeper I was hoping for.

Dude, not getting off to a good start on the first day of work is not such a good thing. It is now time to be a grown-up. But, it will be OK, if it doesn't happen again. I am sure that your teammates will have a nice surprise for you the next time you are at work.

I linke the part about not being involved in any legal trouble...this may become the staple for all NFL related headlines from now on!
