Ernie Grunfeld, the team president, has already assured at least one player the club plans to re-sign free agents Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison. And Caron Butler sounded certain this afternoon, after his exit meeting with Coach Eddie Jordan, that Washington's Big Three would stay together and try to advance past the first round for the first time in four years.

they better not they goin 2 need him

bad move. Gilbert arenASS is a cancer who thinks he is better than he is, Jamison never reached his potental and Butler has to put up with them all.

Addition by subtraction................no offense to Agent Zero but the Wizards play better "team ball" without him. Can you give him a "max deal" if he is often injured?

I say trade him and get some better parts. I have been advocating this for a while.

Trade Gilbert to Chicago for Gordon and Deng; works for both teams

I still haven't seen the "Big 3" healthy in the playoffs for about 2 or 3 years. I have no problem with them keeping the team together and making one last push But after next year, if they can't get past at least the 1st RD, time to blow it up...

May 5, 2008  08:26 AM ET

What? No talk of Stephenson in the Big 3? Hmmm, he talked enough for all of them and all they earned was another 1st round exit...the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome!!

May 5, 2008  08:33 AM ET

Dumb decision. Yes, the "Big 3" are talented, but it has been already proven that the current formula in Washington doesn't work. How many 1st round defeats will it take for them to figure that out? If players can't stay healthy for the playoffs, then what's the point of even making to the playoffs? The "Big 3" have value on the NBA market and the Wizards should use that value to recreate a better more durable team.

This big three can't seem to stay healthy in the playoffs.

CHI was unwilling to give up Deng and Gordon for a certain Kobe, you expect them to give em up for an injured loser?? Smoking pot mate??

Deng was always included during the trade talks. Kobe didn't want Deng to be traded. Kobe had a no trade clause and said he would veto most deals that included Deng because he wanted to win a championship.

As if the Wiz have a choice. Its not like theyre going to let Arenas walk away and get nothing back. They can always move him if he proves to be "cancer" this upcoming season, although he claims to want to just fit in now. We'll see when the season starts if the old Gilbert comes out firing like a madman again.

If by any chance you still have the dealer's number, please do share it with the rest of us.

I know you people call him lazy, but 20 and 10 did not just get on his stat board byitself.

PapI is Back | 05/05/08, 09:48 AM

In the case of Zach Randolph, i actually think 20 & 10 did get on the stat board by itself. He is too lazy to put it up there.

The Wiz have good pieces. They got caught in the hype with this "feud" with Lebron. If they would have went out there and played their game they could have made it a series. Instead, they tried to change overnight and become "tough". And you see what happened...

Kobe said he would pass on a trade that included Deng, get YOUR facts strait son.

Smoking pot???????????? Those of you who believe Gilbert should stay with the wizards are smoking. Besides having a good blog, what has Gilbert done?

It is better to get rid of him than to have him give the wizards "false hope". As far as the numb-skulls who said the Bulls wouldnt trade those two for Kobe; Kobe stated on many occasions that Deng couldnt be part of that deal.

Bottom line...............if the wizards want to get out of the 1st round; trade Gilbert for more reliable pieces

Wizards win more without Zero. Tawn and Caron are enough.

The Wizards have yet to come into the playoffs with all 3 of the BIG THREE healthy. When this happens, hopefully this year, I guarentee we shall get out of the first round, possibly the finals. I fully assembled and healthy Wizards team with our BIG THREE is easily the 3rd best team in the east behind Boston and Detroit. Remember, the last time all of our BIG THREE were healthy together, we were #1 in the East at All-Star break in 2007.

Gilbert is nothing but a liability. Get what you can when you can for him is my three cents.

May 5, 2008  05:10 PM ET

Gilbert is the reason we are winning in Washington! Before he came over to Washington, are last claim to fame was losing to Chicago in the first round of the playoffs in the late 90's. Gilbert is not a cancer! He is the reason we are winning. We need a big man, badly! Haywood sucks and he is a reserve at best. There has got to be a center out there that we can get to help out the big three. You people forget how crappy Washington has been for the past 2 decades before Gilbert arrived on the scene.
