Jagr promises to play somewhere
As he emerged from the New York Rangers dressing room, Jaromir Jagr's bizarre playoff beard was gone. How long before he is, too? As he stood in front of reporters after the Rangers' season-ending 3-2 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Mellon Arena yesterday, a misty-eyed Jagr was asked if this had been his final game as a Ranger, perhaps his final game in the NHL? Jagr would not commit to his future, other than to vow that he will play next season. Exactly where that will be, only he knows for certain. "I don't think this will be my last year," Jagr said. Jagr becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer and is said to be mulling over the possibility of going to Russia next season.

I think and hope he will still in NY, they have alot of young players that hopefully have gained enough experience and confidence to make playoff runs every year now

He'll go with the money. If the Russian league offers him big cash, he'll play in Siberia, if not, he'll be in the N.
The big question is: Will Shanny retire? It sure looked like he should...

Did you see that faceoff were Ruutu knocked Jagr down right after the puck was dropped? "Just play some hockey", I guess jagr ate his own words.

I dont think he would fit in on the Pens. Crosby wouldn't be able to handle taking the backseat to a Veteran superstar like Jagr on his team. They would probably play well together, but it probably wont happen.

He will resign a 3 year deal w/ the Blue Shirts.... $10.5 MM over the 3 w/ significant performance bonuses to take to 6 per year..

JUD, I WISH Jagr would play for around 3.5 million a year but that is not happening. He needs more $ than that.
I just hope he comes back there are literally no UFAs that can replace him. Espescially since he is a RW.

Initially I thought he might go to the Russian league.
But after hearing Mathew Barnaby's take on him, I might tend to agree that he will stay in the NHL. Why not, he sure proved he can still produce. Tops in points at the end of the series.
Barnaby comments were along the lines of...Jagr is very aware of history. He has a large ego and wants to pile up as many points as he can in the NHL before he leaves. Sounds about right to me.
I'm sure the Rangers will welcome him back.

Jagr is a mercenary who will play where ever the money takes him like almost every other professional athlete...I think another franchise that is rebuilding and needs a super star will offer Jagr a bigger deal than the Rangers...I also wouldn't be surprised if he went to Russia to play if the money is there!

Although Mathew Barnaby knows Jagr well from their playing days together, no one completely understands how Jagr's mind works...therefore, it is always best to expect the unexpected from Jagr.

Jagr, when he wants to be, is still a top-10 player in the league. You can laugh at that all you want, but just look what he did this post-season and where he ranks among scorers in the playoffs. He admitted that he can't turn it on like that all season long, which is why I'm saying 'when he wants to be'....he will play next year and just judging by his tone, it won't be in NY. Either it will be in Russia or Czech, or it will be in a more open-offense minded NHL squad that will pay him decent wages. If this was it for him in NY, then I wish the guy nothing but the best. Jagr has never been the loveable character you can't help but to root for. But he is the best European player ever. And I enjoyed watching him play for the Rangers.

Yea Jagr can fit on almost any team, Boston GM. RW with Savard would be a ridiculous combination. If he can RW Avery/Straka and Dubinsky with success he can certainly make that line dangerous.
Jagr is and has been a mercenary. And why not he's sick! But I think his loyalties are with the Rangers. He's still very good but on the bell-curve of his career (which is why he saved his strength for the playoffs). And no team is going to throw something ridiculous like 10 million a year at him. They shouldn't give him too much money, but they better not low-ball him. He will go if the $ isn't right.

Dmitch, Rangers are rebuilding also so it would make sense to just keep him. Just locked up their goaltender and two other franchise players to lead the team in Drury and Gomez.
And the Rangers have a boatload of youngins that will be cheap for some years (excluding Mark Staal). Dubinsky, Dawes, Girardi, Callahan, Prucha, Korpikoski, and Betts. The Russian kids and Bobby Sang. are not too far away. All are capable of playing at a high level.
Get rid of Straka, Shanny, Malik and a few more expendable players who I am forgetting to clear the cap room for Jagr.

Except for Ruutu putting him on his wallet, Jagr looked really good this playoff season. I just wish he'd stop trying to squeeze through the right side boards. And stop pasing so much on the power play and shoot more!
I'm okay one way or another as far as him staying or not.

Some people are sayng Jagr might go west. He's never been there before and players not so used to playing against him may give him an edge offensively.

Jagr was a beast this post season, his stock should rise because of it. But wherever he goes his team isn't going to let him putz around the reg season to save himself for the playoffs.

Durk, I love how he admitted he doesn't play as hard during the regular season. Without his heart and Lundqvist playing out of his head the Rangers probably get swept, albeit in a series that should have been closer and better officiated.
