Bolden denies trade request

You can't toss a sock in a hamper in the Cardinals locker room these days without hitting a player with a contract issue. Receiver Anquan Boldin would like a new deal. So would defensive end Darnell Dockett. Adrian Wilson has said he wants to be the highest paid safety in the NFC. The Cardinals have been in negotiations for months with the agent for inside linebacker Karlos Dansby, their franchise player. A handful of other key players, such as cornerback Eric Green and defensive end Antonio Smith, are working under one-year contracts. There have been stories that Boldin and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, have requested a trade, something Boldin has denied. Dockett, also represented by Rosenhaus, has not attended voluntary workouts this off-season, although he is at this weekend's minicamp.

With all the players represented by Rosenhaus I can see where it would be easy for Drew to request a trade for the wrong player.

Bolden will command a nice price out in the open market, once he hits it. Next year he won't be a Cardinal.

Yo Cardinals...win some freakin games first, then start worrying about getting paid, you bunch of sorry underachievers!!!

Do the contracts that football players and teams mutually agree to and sign mean nothing?

Why bother. Pay them on a game to game basis.

ROSENHAUS, isn't that sports talk for Satan?

May 5, 2008  09:21 AM ET

NO kidding, lonart, at least they should get the franchise in the playoffs a couple of times before demanding more money.

May 5, 2008  10:01 AM ET

How long will it be before teams refuse to acquire Rosenhaus players, or at least shy away? I dont understand why players cant just live by the contract and do their job until its time for a new deal.. Mostly with guys who arent winners or have barely proven anything yet in the NFL.

Why would a team pay for players from a team that cant even win?
Wait...I didn't catch Rosenhaus...

I can see Anquan Bolden with a star on his helmet.

May 5, 2008  11:02 AM ET

Excuse me, Boldin.

The whole draft pick/rookie salary thing has to be revised. It's insane. I don't blame some of these veteren guys being mad that kids that haven't played a down getting 5x as much money as they are.

But Boldin is a Pro Bowl player, making role player money. He's more than outplayed his contract, and deserves a new one. I suspect Boldin won't be a Cardinal when his contract is up. It doesn't seem like the Cards are committed to winning.

Problem is that once Leinert re takes the QB spot his numbers will go waaay done due to the fact that leinert SUCKS. Once his #'s go down so does the salary.

do you realize how STUPID you sound dude? you make it sound like you know boldin, or like he is gonna read this article and do what you say. i guess my question, (and maybe everyone else's) is "what exactly is he doing, that you are telling him to keep doing?" i guess you don't mind sounding like a **** here, because that's what you sound like.

yo, c-smith, if he wants to wear a star on his helmet when his contract is up, we will gladly take him.
