Canadiens quotes irk Flyer

Over the last three months, the Flyers have been a resilient bunch that has thrived on being the underdog. But they sure would appreciate being recognized as only the second team in modern NHL history to go from worst in the league one year to the conference finals the next. The Detroit Red Wings did it in 1987. "I was a little disappointed with the quotes I saw" from the Canadiens after the series victory over Montreal, Flyers center Danny Briere said yesterday. "When you win a series in five games, at some point you had to do something well. But that's the way it has been for us all year."

Typical

From my knowledge, the Canadiens have only said that the Flyers got all the bounces - they conceded that the Flyers played well, but chalked up the series to the Flyers getting the bounces and the Habs not getting them. Its farily true, if you ask me. How can you deny it when you had a goal go THROUGH a defenceman's skate tuck and into the net? It was a series plagued with questionable reffing, but the Flyers should not be trying to deny that they got more lucky bounces than the Habs did. It was their hard work that got them those bounces, but if what I'm saying is what they are upset about, they need to get over themselves. The series is over, the whining continues

Is the Eastern COnference Finals going to be sponsored by Pampers? We've got a team of divers and complainers vs. a team that cries about injustice AFTER they win a series. I've heard of sore losers but.....

Waaaa

May 6, 2008  08:54 AM ET

It's just Briere. He seems a little over-sensitive, but it's not that big of a deal. He's telling the truth.

May 6, 2008  08:55 AM ET

This is just Briere getting some payback with the Canadians...
He got booed in Montreal everytime he touched the puck...
So now he is throwing a Boo back at them...with a whoo as his final word
Boo-whoo..Danny.
I'll bet you're still going to be crying at the end of the next series...when you look in the mirror and still see you can't grow a playoff beard.

May 6, 2008  08:59 AM ET

I've decided to entitle this series with the Pens and Flyers as...
The Battle of the Pennsylvania Peach fuzz...Briere vs Crosby.

May 6, 2008  09:10 AM ET

Wouldnt it be nice to actually read what exactly the Canadians said? Great writing dope.

May 6, 2008  09:11 AM ET

You forgot Upshall, he's got the worst peach fuzz of the bunch.

May 6, 2008  09:28 AM ET

And what doesn't irk the Flyers?

May 6, 2008  09:39 AM ET

It doesn't take much to upset some players these days, does it? Who cares what the Habs say or think? You beat them soundly. That's all that matters. Move on! You've got bigger fish to fry right now (even though a penguin is a bird of sorts)!

May 6, 2008  09:45 AM ET

**** briere. pens in 4

May 6, 2008  09:47 AM ET

WHO cares what the habs have to say, the habs arent playong anymore, there luck they didnt get swept, forget about the habs, flyers are still playing

May 6, 2008  09:49 AM ET

and to the idiot yotes, if you really think pens in four you must be the biggest idiot on the planet, flyers owned the pens in the regular season, , so go hit your crack pipe on another website

May 6, 2008  09:54 AM ET

Yes and the Sens owned the Penguins all seaon long too and look what happened to them.

May 6, 2008  09:56 AM ET

phillyfool27 nice of you to stop by with your snide remarks....this isnt the regular season...fool..'Guins in 5. All the good hockey is over. This will be a weak series same as the Wings and the Stars..only hockey left will be Pens Vs. Wings.

May 6, 2008  09:59 AM ET

It would be fair to assume that the Pens will get more help from the refs than the Flyers. Firstly, because of the image Betman & Co. are trying to project of the new NHL and secondly, because they would like nothing better than a Detroit - Penguins final. Good for ratings and all that. They'll keep the Flyers on a short leash.

Canadian fans have become rather boorish. They lost. Their fans can officially shut their whiny pieholes and go ice fishing or whatever the hell they do in Canada besides hockey. I am a Flyers fan but I unfortunately think we will lose in 6 to the Penguins. I think the Penguins will do more with their scoring chances than the boys from montreal managed to do.

May 6, 2008  10:36 AM ET

MUWHahaha...Canadiens Lost!

BuhBye!

Flyers in 6. Same as the Habs series but won't be able to finish in Pitt in game 5. Will have to come back and feed off the Home crowd to beat the Kid and company. No matter what happens, I'm expecting an amazing series, musch like the entire Flyers Post Season.

25 years Dang it, I want a parade down Broad Street!
