Tubby lands great Gopher class

It might have been surprising to watch Tubby Smith lose two potential impact recruits to the Big East and another Big Ten school in the past few weeks. In the span of less than a month, Los Angeles big man Krys Faber picked DePaul over the University of Minnesota, and Champaign (Ill.) Central point guard Verdell Jones III announced Monday he would play for Indiana next season instead of the Gophers. Disappointing? Yes. But it's not time to hit the panic button. Smith already had landed a highly rated five-player recruiting class, one that could end up being the program's best in 30 years.
