Aggies reel in coveted recruit
College Station isn't a hop, skip and a jump away from Hyattsville, Md. But for 6-6 guard Naji Hibbert, Aggieland apparently felt like home. The talented shooter, who could play any guard position, said Monday he chose A&M over a host of ACC schools because he liked the family atmosphere at A&M. Hibbert said he also choose A&M because coach Mark Turgeon and his assistant, Scott Spinelli, were just relentless. Hibbert, rated 47th nationally by ESPN.com, averaged 17.1 points, 6.3 rebound and 4.0 assists per game last season. He's the first player Turgeon has landed for the 2009 recruiting class. But he's also the third player Turgeon has landed that has been ranked among the nation's top 75.

How does Gary Wiliams keep his job? Does top 50 player that lives within 10 miles of U of Md campus ever go there? The Big 12 gets more DC metro talent than the terps do. This is ridiculous

Sadly, I was just wondering the same thing. I love Gary and I'm a proud member of UM's c/o 1993, but so much talent gets the heck out of dodge that you have wonder what is going on.

I've watched Mark Turgeon since he was a player at Kansas (Larry Brown's first scholarship player and Turgeon went to Brown's office and told him he wanted to play there) and he's always been a winner. The story said he was "relentless" in recruiting Hibbert. That explains a lot about Turgeon but it also shows that the young man was wanted and expects to be a key player for the team.

Gary Williams has lost so many Maryland players. The high profile examples would be Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant. Those players should have never left the state.

If you look at williams history, he has never really gotten the big name. Joe smith, Juan dixon, drew nichols and others were not highly touted coming out of high school. the best recuirt he has ever gotten was Steve Francis and he only stayed one year.
