Coaches from Georgia, Illinois, Marshall, Michigan, Ohio State and Ole Miss were on hand to get a glimpse of junior free safety Darren Myles Jr. and his teammates during opening day of spring football practice at Carver on Monday. Myles, whose marquee scholarship offers are from programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Tennessee, enjoyed a productive day at the Nike camp in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday.

So the hot news here is that if your school has a name, they are still in the mix of getting a commitment from this guy?

May 6, 2008  09:46 AM ET

He will choose an SEC school for sure.

May 6, 2008  09:47 AM ET

Maybe Zooker can pull another miracle and get him to come to Illinois

Dont go out on a limb there c note, I think every school in the sec is listed as interested...

May 6, 2008  01:18 PM ET

Marshall???

May 6, 2008  01:23 PM ET

Why waste a scholarship on a FS? If someone is that talented coming out of high school as a FS then they should be playing WR. Only people who can afford a FS scholarship are the ones who already have a strong lineup without having to give them scholarship. Who would you rather be giving scholarships to...a LB? A RB? A WR? A TE? A CB? I would.

May 6, 2008  02:54 PM ET

i heard he is now really interested in michigan

May 6, 2008  03:09 PM ET

What the h..., Sac? There are 85 scholarships to give. Don't you think it's a good idea to give a scholarship for every position on the football field? Besides that, you're grossly underestimating the importance of a good free safety.

My God, could Nick Saban get this guy too ? I hate to say it, but Nick may be building a monster program for Alabama, so we LSU fans hope that guy somehow does not go to Alabama. I think the kind of year Bama has this year will have a lot to do with where he goes. I can assure you LSU or any SEC school would love to get this guy.

Saban is taking over the West. He's going to Atlanta for the SEC title game this year, ya know.

May 6, 2008  09:54 PM ET

John Cooper, who went 192-84-6 with Tulsa, Arizona State and Ohio State, was the other coach selected for induction.
