Mike D'Antoni has told John Paxson he wants to be the Bulls' next coach, according to sources. Whether Paxson has the same wish remains to be seen after the Bulls' general manager spent parts of Sunday and Monday with the Suns' coach in Phoenix.

please go to the raptors, there's a FIBA team there that needs D'Antoni.

You know what might be strange? Kobe can still opt out after next season. Although that may seem unlikely, he has wanted to play for the Bulls and has also wanted to play for D'Antoni, whom he idolized growing up in Italy. It's a long shot, and as a Laker fan I'd hate to see it happen, but there could be a chance that it could happen.

Good try Hoffa,
If he wins a championship this year, all bets are off.

No way would he go to the Bulls, they are a lottery team. Plus Bynum will be healthy next year.

May 6, 2008  08:38 AM ET

They still need to make some minor adjustments. If you can get a legit scorer who can run; that would be great

May 6, 2008  08:42 AM ET

D'Antoni would be very welcome in the boring half court Eastern conference.

Unemployment aint no joke! LOL!

No way in hell this can happen. Chicago still doesn't have a great scorer inside not to mention the mental toughness and the team work needed for championships.

Chicago is a disaster waiting to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if a mass exodus happens in the near future from the windy city. You tell me if you want to leave a healthy Gasol and Bynum for THAT!

May 6, 2008  10:44 AM ET

I bet this will happen, D'Antoni is in a great position, Bulls have enough talent and
he knows the Suns time has passed

May 6, 2008  11:43 AM ET

Go east D'man, Go east!

Who'll be the Suns next coach?

May 6, 2008  11:45 AM ET

Do any of you think if or when D'Antoni gets the job that he may try to trade some talent for more solid superstars? For instance, using Gordon and Deng to get a Melo, Gilbert, AK-47, T-Mac

He does like a small bench as far as the number of players he uses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 6, 2008  01:06 PM ET

IF PAXON SCREWS THIS ONE UP, I'D FIRE HIM TONITE!!!!!!!

May 6, 2008  02:42 PM ET

KOBE WILL NOT BE LEAVING L.A. THE MAN HAS RINGS TO WIN IN LAKERLAND.

May 6, 2008  02:58 PM ET

BigBooth, I don't think it was that he doesn't like a small bench, it's just that they couldn't afford a deep bench without going over the luxury tax, which the owner didn't want to do.

How many separate stories in a single day do we need about Mike D'Antoni?

Wait a minute, this post was about D'Antoni not Kobe. Kobe will be a Laker 4Life! He'll finish his career up, Larry Bird style and stick with one team. It'll be a fresh thing. I didn't ever want to see Joe Montana in a Chiefs uniform, or Emmitt Smith in a Cardinals uniform, Jerry Rice in the Raiders, etc.... Those players should have all retired with there HOF teams.

May 6, 2008  04:17 PM ET

D'Antoni is a loser.. he is so tightly wound..

May 6, 2008  04:34 PM ET

Why is it that beind 'Fired' means absolutely Zero when it comes to coaches ?
This musical chairs is ridiculous !

Bring in some new talent and give the NBA a fresh look every season !

May 6, 2008  05:22 PM ET

Because coaches are made the scapegoats, whether it was the coaches fault, the players fault, the GM's fault or the owner's fault, there's always 2-3 coaches to be hired then fired first, then eventually the GM gets the ax and it starts all over again.
