Brewers GM stands behind Gagne

Posted: Tuesday May 06, 2008 06:45AM ET

Though frustrated fans might not understand the thinking, Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said Monday that there were no plans to remove Eric Gagne as the team's closer. Gagne is among the National League leaders with nine saves but has blown three of his last six chances. He turned in five consecutive scoreless outings before Sunday but his overall numbers are alarming.

It's Not!

I was so happy to see GoneYe walk a run in with the Astros. That was very comical. Hopefully Red Sox fans will start posting as to why he was not resigned in the offseason.-----Although, I think the answer is farely clear.

Hard to believe this guy was once the most dominant closer on the planet.

Maybe it's the hair.

he looks like wolverine's lost sibling in that picture

Gagne blows. i knew Melvin made a mistake with him. I hope they have someone in mind for later this year, let alone next year. Brewers are going to blow their window of opportunity to get to the playoffs before they can't afford to pay all the young talent.

He looks like he has a hygiene problem in that picture.

Helen, do they have that picture in braille?

Report Offensive Comment

I wouldn't stand behind him if there's anyone in the batter's box. Good way to get killed.

LOL The gift from the Texas Rangers that keeps on giving, First, the Red Sox, now the Brewers. That is for that Carlos Lee trade, Brew crew.

Report Offensive Comment

Of course the GM "stands behind" Gagne. After all, the GM is the one who pulled the trigger on this dumb contract.

Report Offensive Comment

Come on you reprobates...this was an easy one....GM is standing behind him to block the wind..play hide n go seek, something that parlays his fatt **** into a joke!

Report Offensive Comment

i hate gange more than most things. he is a cheater. now we all know why his numbers with the dodgers were so good. what a Fn loser

Report Offensive Comment

Well when you are stupid enough to give him the kind of money you did what are you gonna say - "my bad". Should of talked to Theo Epstein before you signed him !!!

Report Offensive Comment

I wouldn't advise anyone to stand behind this guy. Lord knows the methane spewing out of his rear is letha.

Report Offensive Comment

Lest you forget, Field Marshall, I've a new set of baboon eyes.

And they're terrific.

Though I may pluck them out if they continue with the Clemens crapola.

By the way, FMSD, I just saw your new TV commercial for the Chicago Board of Exchange.

It must be viewed on Bloomberg TV.

You guys don't know anything, He hasn't been that bad

Report Offensive Comment

Gagne, you were superhuman at one time. But your time has passed. And we Red Sox fans say 'good riddance'

Report Offensive Comment

You have to stand behind him and give him as many chances as he needs to get going, screw the numbers!

PS - Go Cubs!

Report Offensive Comment

GagMe has simply been awful. The GM is standing behind him, praying that he turns things around, because the Brewers choked last year, and have too much talent this year not to contend.
