Flyers don't hide distaste for Pens

Posted: Tuesday May 06, 2008 07:40AM ET

Following practice Monday, the Flyers made no secret of their distaste for the Penguins, who advanced to the East final after besting the New York Rangers in five games..."A lot of times when you play in the playoffs, the first game is touch and feel, where you kind of study the other team," Martin Biron said. "The first game doesn't really show a lot of emotion. The second, third, fourth games of the series really picks up. Against Pittsburgh, it's going to start right from the first drop, and that's going to be incredible for these fans."

It's Not!

Is it me, or does Martin Biron look like one of those cave men from the Geico insurance commercials?

And this is something new?

Report Offensive Comment

Flyers will win 1 game at best

Report Offensive Comment

The Flyers will take Crosby out. They win in 7.

This is one series I've been waiting for. Should have happened in the first round..though...except the Pens wimped out...Now I think they will pay.

Report Offensive Comment

Take out Cindy, like the Rangers did, and Malkin will kill you. Malkin in the better player too

Report Offensive Comment

It don't matter what happens, Pens in 6

Report Offensive Comment

this should be one heck of a series. Biron looks like a guy who can't grow a beard.

these two cities hate each other, the players hate each other, the fans hate each other. Wow!!

Report Offensive Comment

Flyers in 7. Malkin will dominate, but Hatcher is going to knock Crosby's buckteeth out again and shave that 7th grade mustache off his fat lip.

Report Offensive Comment

Hatcher is way to slow to keep up nowadays, the only thing he has left is his physical play. Coburn is a horse though

Report Offensive Comment

I just want a series where neither team has to complain about the officiating. Let the play on the ice decide it. It will be tough enough.

Anyway I always thought that A.O. looked more like the Geico caveman. Biron and Briere look like they left school early to play.

Report Offensive Comment

Flyers in 6. Pens dont have what it takes to win against a healthy Flyers team. That was very clear this season.

Report Offensive Comment

FLYGUY, we all know the officiating is going to be a disgrace in this series. Touching Cindy will get you 2 mins with no hesitation. He'll be flopping and diving all over the ice and his eyes will be more focused on the refs arm than on open teammates.

Report Offensive Comment

Does anyone think that the "playoff beard" tradition is gettin a little passe?
I've noticed that the Harder Crosby tries to grow one...the less confident he seems to be with his game.
I do think that, "The battle of the Pennsylvania Peach Fuzz" is going to be a great one though. Malkin has shown he can be rattle and resorts to dirty play. I've lost a lot of respect for him lately. He is no O.V. Heck he even copied O.Vs goal celebration jump into the board last game.
Hossa seems to have found his game and some chemisty with Sid. That could be trouble for the Flyers. The Pens though...are about to really find out what it's like to play a physical team. Let's hope that the officiating is, if not improved...as the very least, fair. I still think that with the Flyers North American line up the the Euro heavy Pens have met their match.

Report Offensive Comment

The Flyers will be screwed by the refs yet again and win the series anyway just like the first two.

Report Offensive Comment

I like the beard, its just one of those superstitions that hockey players will never let go of. I dont know about linking a player trying to grow a beard to confidence nor do I think Ovechkin was the first player to throw himself into the boards after scoring. Thats as old as growing a playoff beard. I do however agree that this is going to be a great series no matter who wins and will probably prove to be more exciting than the cup.

Just Crosby? Come on, this is the Flyers we're talking about. They'll try to take out as many people as possible. You think they care if they lose two no talent **** clowns to take out Crosby and Malkin so they can win the series?

Report Offensive Comment

The Flyers dont have 2 players with no talent. The scoring is far more balanced than the Pens.

Report Offensive Comment

I think the feeling is mutual with these two teams. But, why open your mouth and give the other team something to put up on their bulletin board for motivation? Do your talking on the ice!

Fine that wasn't quite the point, congrats everyone on your team scores. The point is that they could even take their two most skilled players, take out Crosby and Malkin, and the Flyers would love that trade off. Point is that they will be actively looking to injure them, and to deny that is blatant stupidity.
