If the police were arresting me and pepper-spraying me while MY mother was around, I'd yell for her, too.

Cops aren't paid enough to arrest all the nutjobs out there. Personally, I hate dealing with drunks. On the other hand, for every nutjob who resists arrest, there are two cops who resort to spray if the suspect twitches an eyelid.

If you're over 6', over 200 lbs, or ethnic, it pays to immediately fall to the ground saying, "I surrender, please tell me how I can cooperate" as soon as cops show up. Otherwise, you'l be "subdued."

I don't think that calling the cops MFer's is exactly calling out for your mother. Unless one of them is your mother's boyfriend, in which case it may be technically accurate (if not exactly advisable).

Benson may suck, but I gotta believe him on this one. You have a river patrol cop, which I imagine never sees anything remotely exciting, in Texas, getting a chance to arrest a mediocre athlete. It all adds up to an overzealous officer using excessive force.

The report was that his mother was with him on the boat and that he asking for help from the person closest to him, not crying his eyes out. I don't much like Benson as a player, but the above comments sound pretty "girlie-man" to me.

He wasn't calling out for his mother. He was quoting "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" when they peppersprayed him, screaming, "MAMA NO!" This was followed by a scream of, "Don't tase me, bro!"

funniest thing i've read so far today!! just because of the immediate imagery of will smith yelling "mama no" and you took it over the top with the "don't tase me bro" refernece. actually benson may have said "don't tase me just because i'm a bro". look for stand up work, seriously that was funny!
